Influenced by 80s wave, post punk and synth pop, Shadow Flowers is a tribute to Alternative clubs like Seattle’s “The Vogue”, “The Mercury (Machine Works)”, Portland’s “Coffin Club”, and Vancouver Canada’s “Luv Affair” and the people that made these clubs special.

I wrote this song almost 2 years ago and sorta forgot about it, then recently remembered it, cleaned up the mixdown a lil bit (as best I could lol, there’s definitely some rough spots that were sorta unfixable. I lost the bulk of the project files and was left with only a beta .wav premaster version of it) and got it mastered

It sorta feels like the right time to release this one though. I think I wrote this one shortly after charlesthefirst passed away, and was probably somewhat inspired by that.

There’s the double-entendres again I guess of “aspiration” meaning “a hope or ambition of achieving something” as well as it being a medical terminology for “the action or process of drawing breath”

I think that in the ambition that many people feel in their day-to-day lives, whether it be in their careers, finding love, their hobbies etc can easily become overwhelming at times. It’s important to remember to step away and take a deep breath once in a while :)
