The chorus for 'Misunderstood' was written by Whitey for a previous project a couple of years before the Icarus version. It was only when an old friend reminded him of the hook that he tried it over an instrumental idea the band had been playing and demo-ing for the last couple of weeks, and 'Misunderstood' was born. Originally intended as an Indie/Hip hop track, it was later dropped from the set as it felt a bit too Reggae compared to the rest of the live show. 

The song was recorded in Washington Street and came together quickly. It was recorded around the same time as the demo version of 'Reach' and became an unintentional secondary focus. After it was finished, it was released briefly online and put on 100 CDs before being put on the back burner.
