NY state lawmakers are expected to Convene in an emergency special session to extend the eviction moratorium. This comes after the Supreme Court slashed down NY eviction moratorium two weeks ago and years of community protest. Tenants rights organizers are demanding that state leaders reconvene the legislature and extend the eviction moratorium. 

Worse, only 8,000 out of 180,000 applicants to New York’s  Emergency Rental Assistance Program have received funds so far.

Marcela Mitaynes, the socialist State Assemblyperson who represents Sunset Park and Red Hook in the Assembly. Mitaynes began her career as a tenant organizer 15 years ago after her immigrant family was evicted from their home.
