The Inner Devil - Little Nightmares

Kristof Bathory of Void Stasis and Dawn of Ashes serves us his first solo album on Cryo Chamber with Humanoid Dystopia. A cinematic dark ambient story revolving around four androids exiled to a desert prison planet. Huge walls of sounds, modular arpeggiators and sweeping basslines serve us a textured palette of sounds that combine for a true sci-fi epic.

I'm preparing a soundtrack to my residency shows at Volcano Theatre in Swansea this week and my response to the current @disquiet project might well be the transition music. Using samples of room ambience to bookend a series of looped pad chords, these fade in and out, overlapping.

Pär Boström of cult project Kammarheit presents us with his side project Cities Last Broadcasts second album, The Humming Tapes 

On this album Pär Boström explores his fascination with old seances and the early 20th century. Reel-to-reel tape recorders and de-tuned instrumentation combined with modern mixing techniques creates an album that sounds haunted, but also careful and nurturing. 

Pär has with this work taken yet another step forward in his production skill set squashing any doubt that he is one of the most unique artists in the genre with his unorthodox approach to recording his sounds.

Behold, the sacred coding of the lapsed Planeteers. They have committed their knowledge to musical intonations, to semblances of intellect in aural constructs, to the language of drones. The Saviour god-ship surface-to-air vessel has been encoded with several encrypted editions of the Preservation Directive. The divine loops of the source materials undergo their perpetual gyrations on the reel-to-reel of their venerable sound bursts. The Covenant of Analogues propels its drone-scripts, the hieroglyphs of the perished few, from the proto-dwellers of the Maxime Cataclysmus. They are the principal invocations of the forgotten, the diagnostic prophecies of the regeneration of the civilised world. The proto-dwellers have projected their immaculate permutations of the sacred message through rifts in time. But it cannot exist without being received by a conscious entity. The Saviour is a voice in the darkness that says: "Absorb our codices. We are the remnants of a lost species. Until you receive us, we are nothing."

Dead Melodies serves us a soundtrack to a dystopian future where cybernetic hacking has wiped most of the population, an overgrown world painted with dark drones

The rise in blackmarket mods of the amaranthine expansion had exposed more vulnerabilities than The World Council could patch. Originally promised to provide users with next-gen intersensory integration in The Cyberzone, but a bad code in the mod had revealed a port directly into the cerebral cortex, giving full access and control of the mind, thus kicking off a race between the Council's Cyber Security Agency and hacker groups to either patch or exploit the port.

At first just the modded expansions were affected, but once the malicious code infiltrated the mainframe, the hackers gained access to the entire neural network. Full motor-cranial control of 80% of the world's population was theirs. The hand of god was assumed; like puppeteers of the highest order.

And with the human race set to stand-by, white eyed and in a temporal loop of anaesthetic symbiosis; government houses burned, military intelligence was deleted and crypto banks were wiped clean. It was then the unspeakable and irreversible moment came; the genesis flood surged through The Cyberzone, literally switching off the brains of the connected, sparing only the young and the deactivated. Over half the human race, wiped out in a heartbeat. And the almighty towering empire of The World Council, now just a relic left to be reclaimed by the earth.

The hacker's masterplan was complete. A hard reset that ushered in a new dawn for mankind. The few survivors, now fully liberated from the technological reign of The World Council, free to restart anew and rebuild the human race. Enter Earth 2.0

The Hours of Darkness

The 5th album from the Sabled Suns 21xx series, about a man in Hibernation waking up to a world in ruins, takes us through the fifth year 2149.

On this album we gain access to one of the autonomous underground cities in Sector 33. A dark electronic ambient album ripe with robotics, quarantine zones, and the endless chasms underneath the surface.
