[Steven Universe] Escapism [Baldwin Encore Electric Organ]

A song for my little sister. She requested a song about Fluttershy from My LIttle Pony, but it ended up being more of an original song that's more about me than about Fluttershy. Hope you like it :)

Everything is quiet and that’s not exactly bad;
I invite the window’s soft breeze in
Someone’s swinging in the yard and running on the path
this moment is the nicest place that I have ever been
and it’s alright to be small and to be scared
because you notice things that all your friends didn’t know were there
and it’s alright to be quiet, stay at home
because that doesn’t have to mean that you’re alone. 

It’s coming up in flowers and it’s falling from the sky
it trickles down my face and wets my tongue
and honey tastes the sweetest when the bees are your best friends
show them kindness and rest assured that you will not be stung.
And it’s so simple yet it’s very hard to learn
that all good things will happen if you only wait your turn
It’s complicated, yet not difficult to see
that everything is perfect and we really ought to be 

kind. It really only takes a little
time to open up your ears and eyes and
mind and listen to the little voices
calling from outside. 

The clouds are very pretty and the sky’s a bluer blue
it gets so awfully nice this time of year
Even so, I still prefer the ground and what’s upon it
trust me when I say the view is better from down here
They say why walk when you can fly?
They tell me I can be great if I only tried.
Faster isn’t always better or right
like the way the sunset takes its time when day turns into night. 

I think a rainstorm’s coming now, the sky is turning gray;
the wind is growing harsher as it blows.
What a perfect day to hide inside and watch the rain pour
listen to it drizzle, and watch the flowers grow.
And all my friends will gather close to me
we’ll huddle in the dim light, silent as can be
for life is for the quiet, and the small
you’ve got to listen closely, and everything will be alright. 

If you really listen, you will
find that there’s more than one way to live your
life, and I live mine with little voices
singing by my side.

Little Voices

A simple little Dr. Who song I wrote yesterday... the recording's not too great, but I had fun!

People focus so much on the Doctor's human companions that we tend to forget that he has (or had) a very extensive timelord family. Most, if not all of them, are dead and lost. This is a song to the Doctor from his family.

My little Lord, you’ve run so far
so far from silver leaves and two bright golden stars
into the unknown and the black
although I know that you are never coming back
I’m sure you’ve changed, my dear, I’m sure you would astound
if only I could see you now.

My little Lord, you’ve up and gone
to other worlds and other times and other dawns
within those walls of wooden blue
I thought I’d spend my days forever there with you

Our Physician

Finally, new song! I've been gone for way too long, I know.
This one was commissioned by terezi-shmerezi for her story. It takes place in a futuristic but steampunk world and centers around a young woman named Rosa who can communicate with ghosts and see the inevitable death of anyone she touches.

She walks like no woman that I’ve ever seen before
like dancing on the air instead of dancing on the floor
and each step she takes just fills you with such grace
that you’re always left wanting more.

I’ve heard but some whispers that I cannot quite believe
I’ve heard that she keeps men and women hanging to her sleeve
and begging for some scraps of her voice of golden silk
which they will, gratefully, receive.

But they say, oh they say, that her skin is a spell
and they see, oh they see, the sadness in her eyes when she wishes them farewell

and when you feel us, you will know us, you will see a horrid sight
they tell me you can foretell the doom of every hand within your clutch
and all the mortals will cower before your touch.

She seems to reach the sky with her gloves of woven milk

and every time she pulls off them off and leaves her fingers cold
her smile turns sad and wise and so old.

But they tell of some darkness that haunts behind her eyes
They say that she hears whispers, they say that she is wise
they say that they have heard her saying in her sleep
that everyone eventually dies.

And she cries, oh she cries, and never answers why
but there are whispers that she knows endings and she knows how we will die.

Oh cursed child, let’s see you smile, at the people you have doomed
and paint the patterns on the floor when you dance across the room
oh young companion, let’s see your gold skin, it is nearly too much
and you will grow up learning to fear your touch.
