Inside the cardamom capsule are the seeds, that give it its characteristic taste; mainly volatile oils that taste a bit like eucalyptus. When put in coffee, they create ever-changing oily textures on it’s surface. It makes the coffee more digestible and neutralizes the caffeine. It tastes a bit paradox. But eventually the taste becomes something else. A special blend that is neither the one nor the other.

ele & bīsu’s music goes back to studio sessions fueled by cardamom coffee. It’s preparation has been a steady ritual that accompanied the making of the EP. It is the random seeming details and procedures like this that form artistic processes and inspiration. Some day, they might even become an image for a type of experience greater than the individual memory.

The compilation is structured like a DJ set by Noema. It starts hypnotic and slow, then continuously increases the tempo until it reaches ecstatic upbeat domains!

original by Skender Makota and my college roomie from Berklee, Henry Ellis. 
We did a lot of great stuff together and while I usually try to stay cool when I see a great player, composer or musician in general, Henry left me speechless with the talent he possessed, but while struggling with personal demons which only made him immerse more in music creation. 
We lost touch, but I will look him up hopefully and reconnect, upload more tracks from those days of Reason 1, Rebirth and Protools replacing our SSL board (hated and loved the change, still... miss those faders..)
The world was unknown and internet just taking hold yet we were happy... it seems kids nowadays don't get to experience such historical shifts (from analog to digital for ex), but hey: I am yet again surrounded by MOOGS so there ya go!

With it’s floating, shimmering, dark and melodic drive and a slight oriental touch, the track adds a new nuance to the catalogue. Howlong is a friend of the duo, and together, they do a lot of vital field work for Zurich’s underground scene, e.g. as part of the infamous Irubo collective. His version takes us on a dubby as well as cumbia-esque journey with a nice triplet feel.

Kicking off 2021, Nathan Hall’s Sattva EP provides three moody slow techno offerings, with Kusht, Manski and jiony on remix duties.  Nathan Hall focuses on the darker side of music, with texture and atmosphere being the main subject matter of the EP. Born from short bursts of inspiration in the greyed out winters of the Pacific Northwest all original mixes are laced with pensive,  apocalyptic vibes. Expect synth pads kissed by the 80s, melancholic lead parts that break through and underline hypnotic arrangements and subtle organic percussions. Kusht’s remix lifts up these organic parts, supported by additional guitar lines to create his own signature version of These Days while Manski’s energetic version is a gritty banger with a touch of Leftfield House. Contributing a stripped-down remix jiony is rounding out the EP as a whole by adding psychedelic elements to keep up the spirit of Nathan Hall’s Sattva EP for a proper start into 2021.
