I Don't Need to Love You

« Un vent nouveau souffle sur la scène pop folk francophone. Dans son premier EP Landry Verdy nous dévoile cinq titres d’une intense sensibilité. Entouré en studio de trois musiciens (Jean Lannelongue à la batterie, Luc Dabbadie à la basse et Frédérick Mandin à la guitare électrique) Landry livre des mélodies tranchées et assumées dans la plus pure tradition des créateurs de chansons. Armé d’une guitare, il défend sur cet opus les textes, attention tenez-vous bien, écrits avec son complice Kalune.

Les titre « Cartes postales », « À cœur ouvert », « Ne m’attends pas », « Sans toi » ou bien « Pour une autre », débordent d’une efficacité rare et sonnent juste tant les sujets abordés sont bien sentis. Amoureux de chansons, sensibles à Louise Attaque, La Maison Tellier en passant par Alain Souchon vous ne serez pas déçus.

Landry Verdy est un artiste à découvrir sur scène, à suivre et à recommander dans l’excès. D’ailleurs son premier live enregistré à Ampli en mars 2024 est disponible sur toutes les plateformes. »

The Newsletters are a Melbourne band who play indie rock in the vain of 80s/90s UK bands like Ride, the Jesus and Mary Chain and Oasis. After releasing two stand-alone singles (‘Lucky Country’ and ‘Ordinary Day’), the band put out their debut album in late 2017. Their self titled album was recorded by John Lee at his studio in Coburg, Melbourne, and released on 12” vinyl by Oz rock label Buttercup Records (Clouds, Falling Joys, The Lonelyhearts). 

Their most recent album Falling Rain The album was written and recorded in our upstairs flat in Melbourne looking out at the backstreets and public housing towers. Lyrically the songs explore love, relationships, distance and life on the outskirts. Mixing and strings by Tony Dupé. Mastering by Mark Bihler at Calyx. Keyboards by Claire Deak on Door to Door.
