For its fifth anniversary, the French label barbecue is releasing a compilation of unreleased tracks by artists who have marked the label in recent years and takes the opportunity to present their new recruits.

Originally created for Blutch with vinyl releases including remixes by legendary artists such as Terrence Parker, the label has gone digital, revealing young artists like DJ Streaks and his hit tracks “The Best Rapper Alive” and “Greatest Love”.
For these five years the label keeps its artistic line, namely, release the ideal soundtrack for a barbecue, a house music agreeing to get lost in the different branches of the style.

Barbecue takes advantage of this compilation to present alongside Blutch, DJ Nervous, Jamaimoi and Jan Janssen the new heads who will take over the next release of the label. Simon Loucas from Adelaide, the Parisian Takadoum and Stay Jaya & Scatter from the Peckham district of London, present the best that deep house has to offer. Blutch for whom everything started, finish the compilation with the title “Un Amour Inconditionnel”, the best song released on the label to date but was until now only available in vinyl. The best of yesterday and tomorrow!

David Duriez is known for making House and proper underground electronic music since the beginning of the 90's - 30 years in the music industry, founder and keeper of the [briquerouge] label, home of the best french electronic renegades since 1999, David Duriez is lurking in the shadow of the french Electronic scene, keeping it real and true. Artist in various styles of music, dj and innovator, he's always in search of new ways to distribute and value Electronic Music and always a step ahead. Definitely not just one for the hype.

Since 1994, David released over a hundred records under his name, tens under various pseudonyms, outputs mainly vinyl on the most renowned labels like 2020Vision, Ovum, Systematic, Pokerflat, F Communication, Mobilee, Under the Counter, Stickman, Classic Music Company, Crosstown Rebels, The End, etc .. (the list is long, see Discogs.com to be convinced) and as many remixes for some of the greatest (think Moby, DJ Hell, Telex, Random Factor, Johnny Fiasco, Paul Johnson, Kenny Hawkes or Mr.C).

Founder of the label Brique Rouge in 1999 and a whole galaxy of other labels, he participated in the creation of internationally recognized labels such as Robsoul, Freak n'Chic or Rz Muzik. David has carved out his own niche with his pigeonhole defying Brique Rouge label, and his helping to redefine underground electronic music. Brique Rouge has released deep house, jacking house, tech-house, acid house, vocal anthems and much more... Definitely a label for open-minded people, not stuck in one genre of House.

Dance for Relief is a way to use our music to help raise funds for causes that we are passionate about. The second release in the series is a compilation of edits, remixes and secret weapons from various friends, with Volume 2 focusing on summery, festival-ready house sounds.

As before all proceeds raised from this release will go straight to Direct Relief (directrelief.org), a charity whose mission is to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies, and who are doing great work to ensure that protective gear and critical care medications get to as many health workers as possible. Their work continues to be particularly important in the midst of the current Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

Finally, we'd like to say a huge thank you to all the artists involved who have given their skills and time during a difficult period to help make this release happen, in support of a worthy cause.
