For Clint's second solo effort on Second State he brings us two big room jams. With the Throwing Stones EP he takes the same approach as he did with the previous Warpaint EP by going for two different vibes on either side of the record. 
On the A side we have 'Throwing Stones'; a peak time club tune perfect for dark spaces and strobe lights. With giant rolling sub bass, a heavy kick, crisp hi hats and crunchy hand claps the groove slowly grows into a big break with atmospheric chimes and vocal snippets. Soon you are lost in an ethereal break, but suddenly snapped back into reality as the bass changes and a single looping synth takes center stage creating a driving yet euphoric peak time floor filler. 
With the flip side, Clint goes for a warmer, uplifting tone with 'Come Undone'. Starting with finger snaps and a growing arpeggio, the vibe slowly builds as big toms and dreamy atmospherics introduce a massive sub bass line. As a shaker creeps up and another synth blends with the original arpeggio the beat finally drops. A solid four to the floor groove ensues and culminates into a wash of delayed chimes as the breakdown introduces the lead; an unforgettable brass line that is sure to have all the hands in the air at a sunny open air or a morning at the club.

We here at Second State are thrilled to bring you our new concept entitled HUB. While most labels these days are doing various artists releases to showcase the overall talent on their label, we thought it would be better suited for both our listeners and ourselves to break the mold and bring you a series of true collaborations. Each HUB release will feature a single artist teaming up with others from the Second State family to create an EP of authentic musical compromises. A place where multiple minds find a harmony somewhere outside their own identity and each collaboration conceives a genuinely unique artifact. With this, there is no one we would rather have kick off the series than the man behind the massive EPs; 'Throwl' and 'Doch', Stephan Hinz with HUB One!

Stephan and Clint Stewart united to create a cosmic journey into the outer reaches of deep space with 'Shimmer'. The longest affair of the three, 'Shimmer' is the aural embodiment of hurtling through space as you look out the window into the vast never ending blackness. Yet, when you observe the star dust and cosmos against the onyx background, the colors are that much more vibrant and surreal.

Now that we are firmly underway into our second year, it's time to celebrate Second State's family vibes as we bring you the sophomore installment of our annual HUB release. This year we have Clint Stewart taking the helm and over the course of four collaborative tracks with The Reason Y, Michael Klein, Stephan Hinz and of course Pan-Pot, the American displays his prowess for creating powerful, emotive dance floor cuts.

Kicking things off in grand fashion, the EP starts with the alliance of Clint and the boss men Pan-Pot on a massive tune entitled "Zau!" featuring the insanely talented Portuguese percussionist, Peter Xoben, and the inimitable artist Luio Onassis who graced us with his signature artwork for this release. After a chance encounter in Berlin a year ago, Clint met up with Peter and Luio for an impromptu recording session that would later go on to become Zau! after Pan-Pot heard an early working session. With rapid fire blasts of Peter Xoben's drums laid over a captivating groove, the track grows with intensity as deep sonic blasts of low end rumbles and sharp rhythmic hooks engross the aural space.

Soon, wildly unforgettable bursts of neural jabs begin to play a game of call and response with the existing elements as lush, rising pads install a relentless tension of ecstatic proportions to absolutely demolish any dance floor scenario. Following up "Zau!" is Clint and Stephan Hinz who after last years hugely successful HUB collaboration "Shimmer" are back with another incredibly heady tune, aptly titled "Fall To Earth".

Spanning spaces somewhere between deep, euphoric and driving the guys deliver an exquisite "nail biter", testing patience only to deliver a huge pay off of lush strings, melodic bass lines and stirring melodies carried by a heaving groove perfect for those intimate moments.

Embarking into the second half of the release we see Clint team up with Michael Klein to drop what could be the heaviest and most psychedelic tune of the release. 'Artifacts' is a white knuckle ride from beginning to end. Fast paced, swirling arps, unrelenting percussive builds, malevolent jabs and truly hefty roars of bass set the stage for what can only be described as a 'Draconian' opus of epic breadth transcending time and space. Wrapping up the collaborative release is Clint's pairing with Berlin duo The Reason Y for an uplifting ride on 'Aubade Flares'.

Persistent and unyielding grooves lay the foundation as abrasive yet opulent tones partner with rich low end which continually grow before rising to a fever pitch. As the vitality gets to be almost unbearable, a wash of dreamy, intoxicated strings bring it all together into a grandiose symphony of gorgeous harmonics. As heard over the course of these four collaborative HUB tracks, the comradery of the Second State crew is organically becoming more and more solidified and that was always the plan, yet it has past all our original expectations, and we think you will agree.

The creations of Meerkats from Berlin can already be found on 3000 Grad, Acker Dub, Resopal and many other labels. For The Plot, the busy music producer created three special groovy dance-floor shakers. Powerful groovy Techhouse is brought to our label once again.
‘Black Powder’ already starts with a classy housy bassline with a typical oldschool sexiness. Cool vocals support the synthline and the groove.
‘Propellant’ is a rather slow but even more powerful bomb of a house track. In the progress, 16ths hihats and arpeggios add even more drive and groove to this music piece. During the fantastic build up in the middle, this track will easily capture the attention of the whole dancefloor.

„Meteor shower“ was produced after a dream Petar had after the first production day in Marc´s studio. Inspired by the pictures which remained in his brain they switched on a Minimoog, Buchla Music Easel and a Juno 106 and started to make a trip into sounds which could be a soundtrack of such a bloodcurdling scenario. Hailing from Rudolstadt in the east of Germany ROWA was influenced by artists such as Wighnomy Brothers and Sven Väth and founded the alternative collective + club „Monopola“ run by a group of nonconformists and mavericks to enhance the original spirit of quality music.
So it was only a question of time for him to develop his own vision of music on one of the labels he has been following for a long time.
His debut track "Lava" carries the lightness, airiness and happiness of a real classic and combines that with a techno determination that gives it that 'hands up in the air quality' you often seek for. A track that evokes music memories of the past but its magical language far transcends mere nostalgia.
Robert Babicz has remixed "Lava" and has given it the full Babicz treatment. As he said in his own words „I wanted to boost the happiness of the track“ and that has resulted in a mighty universal piece of techno with full on synth melodies that help to elevate the euphoric feelings enormously.
ROWA’s track "Autumn" shows his broad appreciation for different styles of electronic music.
"Autumn" is sensual and deep and touches you in a distinctive and more profound way. This is a classy and personal track that sticks out.
Bebetta has been a force in Germany playing lots of festivals and top clubs. She is known for her standout releases often full of inventive off kilter tracks with hooky melodies and lush chords on labels such as Monaberry. She has provided with her remix of "Autumn" a stunning modern clubby feel that includes some of her unpredictable twists that make her music so lively and flowing.
Definitely the rave track on this release is "Licht". A powerhouse of a track that makes any concessions to rock the crowd for its own sake.
To understand the whole potential of ROWA you have to listen to "Spring" the ambient track of this release. It captures the dreamy and deep side of ROWA with a wonderful moody track.
