Phuture - Acid Tracks  - A.Alanis Unreleased Mix (unmaster)

Alien Rain is a tainted Techno project of Milton Bradley. Under this alias the Berlin based artist has served up disgruntled Electronics and downright deranged Acid. Panel beaten 90s tracks that pervert and pummel. Floor a-bombs that leave behind nothing but a 303 wasteland. Mr Bradley has caught the attention of Deep Sound Channel and been called upon to deliver his style of hypnotic fallout Techno. Two sealed vials of audio venom are the result. “Acid Reign 1” is a looming beast, a corrosive creature dripping famine and pestilence from every pore. The flip is a steady builder. Slowly Alien Rain constructs an analogue scape. Bulging bass and tempered Acid annihilation threatens throughout but is kept in check. Beelzebub brutality from the warehouse warped mind of Milton Bradley.

Patterns by someone I lent my Devil Fish to. The Devil Fish is being processed by the LXP-1 reverb. Three patterns cycle continually. Initially not all the notes are audible because the Filter Tracking pot is set high enough that the low notes cause the filter frequency to drop below the first harmonic of the oscillator. I am also manipulating the Overdrive, Cut Off, Resonance, Env Mod and Filter FM pots, as well as the Devil Fish's volume into the reverb.

Spare Luxury and Tanglefoot Approach sound best on headphones and good on loudspeakers, since the L and R signals approximate the sound which would have entered our ear canals if our head was really there in a  space with those sound sources. 

Csound is written in C and I ran it on a 100MHz Intel 486 Windows machine, compiling it with DJ Delorie's djgpp port of the GNU C/C++ compiler.  Csound reads two text files - orchestra and score - and creates a sound file.  There's no GUI, display or such-like, though I had it print details to the console of the XYZ locations of sound sources as it proceeded.  This full quality rendering took over a day to complete.  (A 2018 model PC can render it faster than real time using one of its four cores.)

In 1998 I altered the .orc file so I could produce renderings of the piece with somewhat different sound placement details, according to what number I chose for the seed of Csound's pseudo-random number generator.
