Heute präsentiere ich euch einen meiner Lieblings-DJs aus meiner Sammlung. MPathy ist gebürtiger Berliner und einer der tragenden Köpfe hinter Steyoyoke Records.  Aufgewachsen im Berlin der wilden 90er wurde er natürlich ganz früh von elektronischer Musik geprägt. Später verbrachte er ein paar Jahre in Chicago und Shanghai, wo er in die lokale Elektro-Szene eingebunden war. Nach dem Abschluss seines Audio Engineering Studiums kam Marco 2012 zu Steyoyoke Records und es folgten zahlreiche eigene Produktionen und Kooperationen unter anderem mit Florian Rietze, Sasch, BLANCAh und Animal Picnic. Als DJ versteht es MPathy wie kein anderer diesen ganz eigenen und faszinierenden Steyoyoke Sound zu spielen. 

Marco und ich haben uns letztes Jahr dann spontan am Alex auf ein Bierchen getroffen und es gibt so Begegnungen wo man einfach sofort weiß das PASST. Deswegen freut es mich umso mehr, dass er meinen heutigen Geburtstag-Mix eingespielt hat. Marco vielen Dank für dieses überragende und mehr als faszinierende Geburtstag-Geschenk. Und nun wünsch ich euch viel Spaß mit MPathy.

Mark Slee - Linger: Summer Touch [June 2016]

The music in this mix represents what I like to listen to when hanging out with just a few friends after a long night out. Sounds that I prefer as a soundtrack to my mindless spaced-out conversations on a couch rather than tracks designed to work a crowd on a dance floor...loopy, spacey, trippy, stripped, strangely structured, quirky, and subdued.

I was actually glad that my friends at Electronic Groove (@egroove) asked me to do an afterhours-specific mix rather than a regular anything-goes mix. My last few mixes left me feeling like I was getting a little too "comfortable." I started getting self-conscious that I was getting predictable on both the types of songs I would choose and the way I would mix them together. I started getting bored of myself. That being said, I found this mix to be satisfying to put together. Hope you dig.

Also, since these mix posts tend to reach a wide audience, I'd like to use this platform to show my solidarity as a straight ally with the LGBTQ community, especially to those who feel isolated or alone right now. At a personal level, all shootings are terrible, but this Orlando massacre has emotionally hit me the hardest in the last few years.

I've been told that the best immediate ways to show support right now are by:
 - Giving blood, if you're straight. Gay men are not allowed to give blood

Through his 'Coastal Breaks' mix CDs in the late Nineties, and his own Marine Parade label at the turn of the century, Adam Freeland was synonymous with the breaks & edits scene that was prevalent. As a resident at Fabric, he contributed to the renowned 'FabricLive' series as well as popular mix series 'Back To Mine' and 'Global Underground'. As an artist and remixer, he bothered the Top 40 and even earned a Grammy nomination. Living back in California now, the Brit is also part of 'The Acid', a band he's formed with Californian Steve Nalepa and Australian artist RY X.
