At Tresor's first outing in Paris at the Palais de Tokyo, Kern instigator DJ Deep recorded the Deep Library selection he presented to introduce Nils Petter Molvaer & Moritz von Oswald's '1/1' concert. Followers of Tresor.Cast will enjoy the unique atmosphere of DJ Deep's exploratory and wide-ranging set in this fifth edition.

Fresh from his Interference EP, released earlier in the month on Tresor Records, and ahead of his return to the club in March as supporting act for Jeff Mills, we sat down with the zealous Glaswegian Vince Watson to discuss his fierce musicality, affinities with Tresor and diverse array of forthcoming projects.

Puresque is Paul Brtschitsch and Mocca—Paul whose discography stretches back to the mid-90s and is widely regarded for his sensitive sound arrangements both on record and live, and Mocca—real name Michael Kunz—who has been simmering his sonic pallet on the Berlin circuit over the last few years. They met over a mutual love of vinyl and entered the studio together with the desire to create something raw, as removed as possible from the synthetic feel of purely digital production.

Dubbed by Igloo Magazine as the “Romanian Detroit electro/techno pioneer” and by the late Aaron Carl as “the Romanian Underground Resistance himself”, Andrew Red Hand from Romania’s spiritual capital of lasi stands up as an unwavering militant of the underground, a true Detroit spirit possessed as Romanian humanoid!
 
From his early gigs throwing parties as one of the first generation DJs in lasi since 1997, ARH continues to break boundaries as part of the Romanian resistance scene and numerous time portals as they open around Europe. His blistering, mind-bending sets such as at Berlin’s Tresor, Griessmuehle or Krake Festival see the DJ with the red hand fuse pure Detroit sound with electro, techno, acid, EBM, industrial, classics and futuristic beats. His mixes for Radio UR (Underground Resistance) and The Grid (Detroit Techno Militia) remain some of the best frequency transmissions to surface to air.
 
Armed with a Soviet Union reel to reel Majak 203, his scorching raw analogue and searing acid productions have been picked up by foundational Detroit labels such as Twilight 76, Matrix, Detroit Underground, Databass, Detroit Techno Militia, Cratesavers Intl, Visillusion as well as around the world from Holland's iconic M>O>S Recordings to Lobster Theremin, Chiwax, 1Ø Pills Mate, Bass Agenda, Land Of Dance and more. On his remix list includes work for Scan 7, Santonio Echols, Thomas Barnett, Sean Deason, Niko Marks, Six Foe, T.Linder, Hardfloor and more while support from Anthony Shake Shakir, DJ Bone, Dave Clarke, DJ Godfather has been garnered for our sonic warrior… Beware of the Red Hand!

Radio Cómeme - "Down Under" 03 by DREEMS

Cristiano Feleppa is one of the figureheads behind the Slow Motion Records label which is based upon Italian foundations in the heart of New York City. As a DJ, he stands tall in his own right and we were thrilled when he offered us the opportunity to feature one of his mixes on site. This is a two plus hours extravaganza which he has titled as "_NOTHING_ a trip between Usa and Italy". It's colourful, exciting ane enigmatic, much like Cristiano's character himself.

Sling & Samo are the exiting duo behind the Born Free record label which resides in Stockholm. Over the last few years the pair have been releasing a vast array of weird, wonderful, oddball music: some built for the dancefloor and some certainly not. The pair are colourful characters who don't take themselves or what they do too seriously. Samo is also well known in his own right as a producer and dj having released music for the likes of LIES, The Trilogy Tapes and Public Possession but together with Sling the pair enter a new realm of musical exploration. We asked them to record a mix for us.

As one of the leading figures behind Multi Culti and Turbo Recordings, Thomas Von Party finds himself in a rather envious position. As a DJ he has played a significant and important role in the Montreal club scene, in 2014 he opened a club, Datcha, which has since gone on to find critical acclaim for its diverse music policy and its cultural benefits to the city. In 2013 he co founded the Multi Culti label alongside Dreems, it is set to release a compilation series titled 'Sun Gaze / Moon Faze' which features a great breadth of music from artists including Moscoman, Manfredas, Kris Baha and more. Von Party himself will also feature having recently begun to dabble in the world of production following an extensive and formative number of years spent DJ'ing around the world.

Wie und wann bist du zur Elektronischen Musik gekommen?

Im Alter von 10 Jahren war eine meiner ersten Musikkassetten damals von 2 Unlimited, es war also schon sehr frühzeitig abzusehen wo die Reise hingehen wird „wink“-Emoticon  


Welche Musikalischen Momente sind dir besonders in Erinnerung geblieben?

Da gäbe es jetzt sicher einige zu nennen, aber heraussticht da sicher der Gewinn des ‘Jeden Tag Ein Set DJ Contest 2014’. Ich durfte damals auf dem ‘Wilde Möhre Festival 2014’ spielen, was ein unglaubliches Erlebnis war und mir zurückblickend auch einige Türen geöffnet hat.  


Wo konnte man dich bisher antreffen?

Neben etlichen Clubs in der ganzen Republik wurde mir auch die große Ehre zuteil in der Jägerhalle zu Basel und im wohl schönsten Club der Welt ‘Gudrun Singers’ in Oslo zu spielen.


Gibt es Zukunftspläne?

Vor kurzem habe ich gemeinsam mit meinen sechs besten Freunden das Kollektiv ‘adequate°’ gegründet - hier vereinen wir neben eigenen bundesweiten Veranstaltungen auch eine Künstleragentur und in naher Zukunft werden wir auch mit einem eigenen Label an den Start gehen. Es wird also ganz sicher nicht langweilig ;)

I mean, that's probably a lie, there's probably a few, but none of them do it quite like Ransom Note family member Bawrut. 'Ciquita' has gone down rather well having been supported by the likes of Optimo, Jackmaster and beyond... There is a distinctive blend evolving from the Turkish underground at present. Electronic music at a crossover with folk, funk and disco is the flavour of the day with artists such as Khidja, Mehmet Aslan, Red Axes and more finding themselves inspired by something which sits somewhere in between a range of inspirations and sounds. Ave Astra lives in Istanbul and finds himself an active member amongst this genre crushing scene. He has recorded a Turkish inspired mixtape ahead of his release on his own Roit Recordings.

Aaron carl notoriously called him 'the romanian Underground Resistance himself'', and living up to this name Andrew has delivered several mixes as part of the UR series. We caught up with him to talk cliches and the inspiration behind his name...

"...[Justin] Vandervolgen's launched into the outer spaces of techno and fallen back through the roof of house music and landed on the disco master bed," RA scribe Andy Beta wrote on the Brooklyn producer. And there Vandervolgen made himself comfortable under a soothing Balearic blanket, one might add. As his recent release for the Golf Channel imprint makes clear, Mr. Vandervolgen is a hunter of the extraordinaire. His piece "Clapping song" is a genre-defying whirlwind of invention and a hailstorm of bliss for your dancefloor. Besides, any dj mix that features Nicholas's super-euphoric "No more" cannot go wrong. Satis sat!

Nr. 32: Justin Vandervolgen (Golf Channel)

Expect the unexpected. That's the philosophy Rotterdam-based DJ mad miran promotes in her DJ sets. A regular on the Dutch capital's mainstay Red Light Radio and a face behind the counter at the infamous Clone record shop, Miran has fast become one of the country's most promising DJs. 

Although she only played her first DJ set in a club a couple of years ago, she's already landed a residency at Trouw successor De School and become part of the Strange Sounds From Beyond family, seeing her name spread like wildfire and lead to a string of gigs across Europe.

We invited her to dive into her record bag for us and the result is 80 minutes of leftfield electro, raw breaks and introspective electronica. Enter into the crazy world of mad miran...

mad miran: The 'Wednesday Alternative' Mix

Amsterdam has been graced with a fearsome array of fabulous selectors and disc jockeys in recent times, the city is abuzz with experimental music and talent. 

Orpheu The Wizard has been a pivotal figure in the development of the scene, crucially helping to nurture new faces through his key role as a co founder of Redlight radio - a distinctive platform which has acted as a gateway and an open door to a new wave of music, producers and dj's. 

His own background is well versed, he's earnt his stripes and played the long game building a respectable array of musical knowledge and selective talent which he uses to entice and delight crowds across Europe and beyond. Eclectic, far reaching and multi purpose - his sets often run wild across a sprawling spectrum of sound. 

This year he will play at Love International festival, an appearance which should not be missed.

Orpheu The Wizard: The Ransom Note Mix

Step back, this is a big one. 

Across the past couple of decades there have been very few who can attest as much influence as that of Joakim, a singular producer who has been charted as an influential figure by many of the leading producers and disc jockeys in the present.

The French outsider has amassed a notorious reputation for his eclectic style as a disc jockey and producer having released music on the likes of Versatile, Kitsuné Music, Life And Death, Crosstown Rebels and beyond. As the founder behind Tigersushi Records and Crowdspacer he has been responsible for leading a new generation of talent into the dance and has played a key role in the future development of dance and electronic music. 

As an individual his own take on music is wide and vast, not one to shy away from the alternative or experimental he has done well to channel a sprawling array of style, genre and sound across his own lengthy career and in all honesty Joakim continues to surprise and intrigue with delight. 

A Dj's dj, he is a firm favourite and we welcome him as part of the series.
