Julián Nates is an argentinian DJ, producer and drummer who was born in Córdoba province, Argentina. He was introduced in the music world at the short age of 4, when he started to take regular violin and piano classes until his adolescence years. This is when he decided to start with drums lessons, in which he got to reach a professional formation at a prestigious music conservatory in Córdoba. At the age of 23 he started to develop a deep interest in electronic music. This lead him to take several courses in the city till he was fully trained as a DJ and producer. His musical style fluctuates between techno and progressive house, with a very permanent feature of percussive and drum sounds. Julián has introduced his tracks in labels such as The Soundgarden, Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers, Clubsónica, Particles among others and nowadays he has several releases ready too.

#195 - Julian Nates - (ARG)

London-based artist Bianca Scout moved from her home of Newcastle to immerse herself in her work as a dancer and musician. As well as exploring the connection between the two mediums, her creative activity concerns itself with the imagination and unlocking your spiritual potential, realised through her fuzzy potion of experimental sound collage and wistful vocal snippets. 

She translates these creations through performance, her self-released output and on records for labels like Jungle Gym, Opal Tapes sub-label Beatrice & Annie and Infinito Audio Network. More recently she contributed a track to Blank Mind’s Comme de Loin compilation, alongside contemporaries like Lack, Big Hands and Clara de Asis, which explored everything from textural ambient and field recordings to spaced-out modular work and intricate instrumentation.

Noting that Monday's 'can have very different tones', Bianca put together two mixes for us to pick from: 'one for a blue sky' and 'one for a rainy day'. We are treated to the former which she delves into in more detail on site...

For each vocal composition the actors exaggerate and amplify ‘emotion’ over the rhythmic
pronunciation of a single phrase .
Reminiscent of pop accapella stems, reflected and distorted, the heavily processed voices
coalesce into canons, harmonies and dissonances with ASMR qualities.
By constantly repeating the mantra “Actual Feelings” throughout the length of the entire
album, the progressively fragmented language falls prey of semantic satiation,
increasingly warped into abstraction.
what remains is a soundscape of glossolalias as if the coherent facade of performative
behaviour disarms itself, lulling the listener into a comfortable Gestaltzerfall.

Amsterdam-based duo Wanderwelle return to Silent Season for their debut album which is inspired by the mysterious pagan tribes that once roamed across the European woodlands. Lost in a Sea of Trees tells the tale of a lone traveller who enters a dark, ancient forest. Lured deep into the woods by something not of this world as he enters uncharted grounds. Step by step his journey is getting darker as he encounters strange phenomena and beings among the trees.
