Singer songwriters often struggle to get their subject matter together. Not so with Jorge Velez, who isn't a SS in the strict sense ofcourse, but bear with us. Influenced from an early age by the looming shadow of the Jersey Turnpike, scrapping over spotless white Adidas on the 1980's NYC subway and sneaking into the Kung-Fu matinee on 42nd street pre Starbuxification; it's earned him some stripes that us Euro-centric white middle class suburban boys can only fawn over in the shallowest possible way. It's way up there with say, a black man born in Chicago, the karate kick of that Peurtorican dude in 80 blocks from Tiffany's or the Lower East Side when Joey Ramone was still selling his ass for smack . You know, REAL soul. Not the kind you can buy on DVD. Or wait - you can. Anyway, we're drifting. Point is, mr Velez oozes street cred, so naturally this mix is beyond reproach. It's just one of those things. If you find something wrong with it, it simply means you don't understand it. Let's face it, you know and I know that you are not DEEP enough! So just close your eyes, soak it in and replace your memories of sunday morning hummers in a Vinex tomb with visions of Charlotte Street ca. Wolves. Ok enough Google assignments, get crackin!

Merry Christmas from everybody at MEOKO! It has been five years since we launched the podcast series and to celebrate, we will be releasing x5 special edition mixes from selected artists over the course of the next couple months starting with none other than Barac. After a long period of time at the top of his game, known for his intricate and high quality productions,on the likes of Pressure Traxx, Meander, and Midi Records. His intelligent and smooth sound is loved by many all over, whether moving the dancefloor in one of the best clubs in the world either mixing or one of his fantastic live sets, or it could be a lengthy journey on the beach in his native country Romania. There is something so special when this man enters the room with an ability to grasp the listener, allowing them to indulge in the variations of sound he has prepared. It is with our greatest pleasure, that we can offer you this tasty cut from Barac's set live from Robert Johnson, in Frankfurt, back in January 2016 for a Presure Traxx showcase. Famous for its intimate vibe, and incredible sound system, to nobody's suprise, Barac steps up to the occassion with low swung minimal grooves lifting the atmosphere, accompanied by his signature curious movements of abstract sounds adding to the story the Romanian is telling. Pressure Traxx are known for their ability to extend much further than what meets the eye, there is no 'same sound', and this is why the wizard we like call Barac fits the bill like no other. A steady motion in to the trip, whether listening in your house, walking to work, or driving in your car, you will be absorbed in to the sounds you are hearing gaining an insight to the tight knit intimacy of Robert Johnson, and what Barac had to offer on the night. Enjoy!

So Future Sounds 025: Lazy Flow (Guest Mix)

Towards the tail end of last year we were greeted by two sun kissed, elegant EP's from a fresh faced producer operating under the moniker of Møzaika. Based in Berlin, a dj and producer, he has released music on the likes of Public Possession and No Bad Days, two labels of which we are firm fans. His sound draws upon a balearic legacy left behind by those who came before, beautiful pads are layered and structured alongside gracious melodies whilst the steady of rumble of drums flutters beneath. It's very easy to see why his music has been championed the way in which it has. 

As a dj he draws for percussive floor fillers, eclectic italo and the downright abstract. Not one to take himself too seriously his music is purpose built for dancing and this mix will have you doing just that.

Last week, SG Lewis dropped the second part of his concept trilogy, 'Dusk', 'Dark', 'Dawn', a record that narrates the course of a night out, charting the ebbs and flows of the various stages of revelry. The 24-year-old production wunderkind has earned plaudits for his emotive solo efforts of introspective pop, first garnering attention for a Jessie Ware remix in 2014, and has since displayed an ambitious work rate, undertaking remixes for Dua Lipa and production for Dave and G-Eazy. On his Dummy mix, the producer behind '100M's' shows off his unparalleled selection ability - and it's the sound of the night out you want to be going on. "In order to gain inspiration for the creation of 'Dark', I found myself going out more than usual (for purely professional reasons, of course...)" SG Lewis says. "This mix consists of some new songs I’ve fallen in love with over the last few months, some edits of my own music, and some old songs I’ve rediscovered recently."

Next up in our longstanding mix series we are delighted to showcase a man who could be described as a pioneer of house music. Brawther has been steadily casting a spell upon the genre for many years now, his music having been championed by the likes of Kerri Chandler, Ron Trent, Chez Damier and Jeremy Underground. He has released music on a far reaching number of record labels including the likes of Cabinet Records, Secretsundaze, My Love Is Underground, Balance and Jazzy Couscous. He has built a firm following amidst house and techno communities and has toured with relentless pace in recent years with a reputable string of appearances worldwide. 

This set was recorded at a special location in Berlin and was captured live from the booth at Club der Visionaere. For those of you who have been previously then you will note the nature of the sound, setting and place in the utmost detail. For those who have not, close your eyes and imagine.
