From his home of Vilnius in Lithuania, Paulius Austrevičius operates under the moniker Clicklounge. As booking assistant at one of the capitals best venues, Opium Club, he has a hand in bringing some of the most exciting and interesting DJs and artists over to play in the space. It's here that he also holds a residency and runs his own club night, Juoduomenė, alongside friends Tadas Quazar and Tumosa, that has seen them invite the likes of Tolouse Low Trax, Interstellar Funk, Elena Colombi and Zozo over to play with them.

For this week's alternative mix we handed over the reigns to Paulius to see us through hump day and he didn't disappoint... Lock in for an hour of hypnotic drum workouts, leftfield oddities and sludgy acid cuts.

Florian Stöffelbauer aka Heap (Vienna, Austria) is the man behind the great NEUBAU Records, who made it to one of the most exciting labels of the last few years, with what they call - brutalism in music.
he is also co-runs the fantastic YouTube channel “Basic Rhythm” and he was furthermore behind the retailer “Discus Throwers”.

Mega eclectic Canadian Séance Centre vinyl only imprint, never tires of finding and presenting to our attention pearls from the world music library of the past and this time, in colloboration with their co-label Musique Platistique, they bring us 7" of legendary belgium master Jacques Charlier.
Jacques Charlier is primarily known as a visual artist, which obscures the fact that he’s been actively multi-disciplinary for the entirety of his career. Born in 1939 in Liège, Belgium, his interest in all forms of art began at a very early age when he aspired to be a poet, writer, musician, comic book artist, actor, and movie director, and in his own eccentric way became all of these things.
In the 1970s, inspired by the minimalist sounds of Philip Glass, Steve Reich, La Monte Young, John Cage, and Meredith Monk, Charlier armed himself with a custom guitar, and sound modulating effects and started experimenting on his 4-track. He performed psychoacoustic pieces in Liège, Antwerp, Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Milan and Düsseldorf, and in the inimitable performance art video “Desperados Music”, filmed by Paul Paquay in 1979 for Belgian television. Charlier hit a creative stride in the 1980s, recording off-kilter tunes influenced by everything from post-punk, EBM, Yé-yé and psychedelic rock. Similarities reside in the catalogs of Belgian labels Crammed Discs and Les Disques Du Crépuscule, yet even with these genre-bending precedents, Charlier’s music is idiosyncratic to the extreme. In 1984 and 1987, he self-released two cassettes incorporating synth, drum machine, his custom guitar, and vocalist Martine Doutreleau on occasional duets.
This limited edition 7” single offers the previously unreleased jangle/darkwave jam “Kiliwatch”, backed with “Loulou”, a scorching psychedelic oddity from one of Charlier’s original cassettes. It precedes the upcoming double LP compilation of Charlier’s music, and is the perfect introduction to his curious and complex artistic vision. Co-release with Musique Plastique

2010, Sofia, Butcher’s Bar. Technobeton is djing at a party. After several absinthe shots he just takes the already played vinyls and goes out for fresh air. Suddenly he realizes, that he is not in Sofia, but in Budapest. All night he explores creepy streets, houses and inner yards, talks to Hungarian people. He has already thrown the records away in a blue abandoned Renault 11 and sleeps next to the National Library. Upon morning he realizes that Budapest has been a hallucination, and goes back to the Butcher’s bar which is already closed. Ten years later, April 2020, he is back to Bulgaria in creative isolation. One day walking to Aether (his studio at this time), he spots a mysterious blue car. Struck by sudden memory lightning, he decides to take a closer look. It’s a rusty-blue Renault 11, covered with mud and vegetation. After he forcefully opens the trunk, all he finds is a bag in terrible condition with several records inside. And now: pour a sip of absinthe in a diamond glass, press play and listen to the lost and found records from Sofia, not from Budapest.
