Adult Hits makes dance music that sweats, mutates, and smiles back at you. A co-founder of Sensory Signal and a fixture in the Los Angeles underground, he builds worlds from percussion — grooves that start as a pulse and end as possession. His sound leans toward the playful and the psychedelic: prog swung through breaks, acid melted into color, humor folded into hypnosis. There’s always a wink in the chaos, a kind of sly confidence that comes from knowing exactly how the room will move.

Attitude Drums EP packs a sassy, proggy punch square in the chest. Euphoric wobbles and wibbly ear~candy collide with psy~esque licks and naughty breaks. No rest for the wicked, Adult Hits flirts across the EP with raw personality; his locked-in percussion, trippy pads and nasty vocal chops carry the floor effortlessly.

Tokyo producer Yusuke Iguchi aka RGL makes his long-form debut with Touzan, an album that expands on the soulful, groove-rich sound introduced on his inaugural EPs for Breaker Breaker.

Named after the Kawagoe Tōzan fabric woven by Iguchi’s mother and featured on the artwork, the record weaves together house, hip-hop and jazz-tinged textures into RGL’s most distinctive statement yet - a deeply crafted vision of modern Japanese house music.

The sculpture of sound is an innovative and individual process by which no two musicians can truly align. Max Graef stems from a background in hip hop, jazz, funk and soul. House plays less of a role in his day to day existence than his releases to date might perhaps indicate. Someone once said that all music, was to a degree a form of jazz. Whether there is much truth in this is debatable, but Max Graef has succintly managed to integrate influential elements from an array of genres within his multi-faceted sound. 

This summer Max Graef will play at @farmfestival in Somerset, a festival which has made a name through its tasteful curation and musical eclecticism. In honour of his appearance we were able to reach out to him to contribute to our exclusive Ransom Note mix series for what is a special assortment of sound in motion.
