Just got word that they've finally managed to clear the smell from the Balamii studio after I've stunk up the place with some truly awful mixes yesterday. All the leaves are gone and the thief is called autumn. 

Most of the birds have left as well but some are still brushing through the skies, searching for a warm place to stay. But year after year after year they realise, the warmth won’t magically appear someplace, it comes from within others and themselves and only together they will defy the frost.

Lisbird seems to have found her nest in the sometimes rough, sometimes gentle north of Germany’s capital, otherwise known as Wedding. From there she is spreading warm waves to heat up your kettle, ignite your fireplace, mend your warm socks and fluff up the blanket on your couch. 

If you didn’t leave with all the other birds, you may as well stay and sit out the cold dark winter with us. Just like Toto we will hold the line and unlike Toto we will keep on delivering hits until the downfall of the internet. 

Also we’re not always on time but who around here has got time pressure, right?

Makiko Iwaki aka “Menou” (for lives) and also “iwamaki” (for djsets) (@makiko-iwaki) is a Japanese Live actor / DJ, who started her career in 2015. Her Live set and DJing approach is a deep drone journey. She is conscious of creating a deep sound with an approach of layering sounds, and also enjoys giving an audience the subtle change in sound.

Catherine Danger is a sound and visual artist based in Brussels. In her practice, she experiments with a multitude of textures that are designed to be altered or modified. Recently she released a tape on Simple Music Experience label, Roto Rites Dub, 40 minutes of slow, psychedelic waves, Illbient style. Roto Rites are little incantations, short, magical formulations. Roto Rites Dub is meant to be cut, dubbed, transformed, sampled, recited. In 2018 she created an audiovisual label, 2files4free, with Daya Hallé, a label focused on the combination of sound and visual production, through a multiplicity of artists, hybrid projects and experiments.

Memotone has been writing and releasing music for many years. He has worked as a composer often being asked to soundtrack everything from fashion collections for the likes of Palace through to films, art projections and beyond. His sound is broad and varied, channeling influences from Folk through to abstract Electronics and Ambient.

Originally from Bristol he has evolved as an artist, mutating through the ever fluctuating dynamic of experimental underground music in the UK. Over the years he has released albums on the likes of Black Acre, Diskotopia and Accidental Meetings whilst also offering a number of EP’s for the likes of Termina and Sähkö Recordings.

Often using a broad variety of instruments, you never know quite what to expect from a Memotone record. More often than not they are deeply provocative, built for pensive self reflection and channel an element of futurism. However, that’s not to say that there isn’t a sense of deep rooted nostalgia and heritage rooted throughout.

Take the new album on Impatience for example – a collection of music which is at times Classical in style, blurring the lines with influences from traditional Folk music whilst using elaborate electronics to elevate and recontextualise the entire listening experience.

We weren’t entirely sure what to expect from this mixtape, that’s perhaps part of the charm. It’s wild, eclectic and free.
