DJ Hamam’s journey began in the Aegean coast in the well noted hamam street of Bodrum. This voyage led to the urban spheres of European cities over the years, where Hamam DJs and produces music in different sorts of artistic areas. The question of identity, which is in constant motion and simultaneously rooted somewhere deep in the music, is DJ Hamam’s impulse for the endless aim of creative exploration.

Currently based in Vienna the virtuose persona of DJ Hamam is going to drop the first music and numerous collaborations by the end of the year which will reveal the puzzle little by little.

He started his techno DJ career in 2018 after being introduced to the scene by creatives in his environment that were working on music production, fashion, and art. 

Romen's unique personality is reflected in the variety of sounds you can hear in his tracks, from dark undertones to playful grooves and trancey textures with a north star of being able to make people dance regardless of their culture or background.

The sweet sound of the blossoming trees echoed prominently through the Japanese countryside. Pink flowers were flickering upon the hazy spring breeze as the birds soared high up above. In the distance the sound of cheerful voices could be heard glimmering in the morning air. The park would soon be busy, scattered with tourists and sun worshippers alike. They flocked to such a spot amidst the crowded city and looked for release from the daily struggle. 

Mind Fair are set to appear on a new EP from Rogue Cat Sounds. They deliver a spectacularly chilled out contribution with oriental percussion and poetic delicacy. Highly recommended.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’ve teamed up with @fabric to bring you this mix from Swiss minimal techno stalwart Sonja Moonear, recorded live at the club back in the autumn of 2019 and all we can say is that it’s a special one.
 
Sonja @moonear has been associated with the iconic London institution for 13 years and counting, including bringing her legendary back-to-back sessions with Ricardo Villalobos to Farringdon. The Geneva-based DJ prefers to let the music do the talking, having grown through her residency at the city’s underground playground Weetamix from 2002 onwards, building her reputation via releases and remixes on labels such as Karat and Perlon with which she has particularly close ties, having met label boss Zip at a Weetamix night back in 2001. 
 
Since day one, she’s juggled running her own Ruta5 label with a day job as a sound designer for the Swiss national TV channel RTS, giving her the freedom to stay true to her musical beliefs by not having to compromise on playing inadequate gigs for misleading reasons. The truth is on the dancefloor! 
 
Over the last decade, Sonja has developed close relationships with clubs all over Europe, from fabric here in London to Goa Club in Rome, Robert Johnson in Frankfurt, the recently opened Mutabor in Moscow and Lux Frágil in Lisbon. It’s a reflection of her versatility that she’s as likely to appear on the bill of large-scale festivals like Awakenings and Time Warp as she is to pop up at a little sweaty underground club. This summer’s bookings alone see her lined up for Craig Richards’ Houghton and the second instalment of the Wigflex festival in Nottingham, plus an appearance at the tiny, invite-only Headroom festival on a permaculture farm in the foothills of the Black Mountains near Abergavenny.
 
This mix was recorded midway between Junki Inoue and Rhadoo’s sets during a fabric night entirely devoted to surgical percussions and restrained melodies drawing from every corner of electronic music.

2020 has dealt out some heavy losses to musical pioneers across the spectrum but few have contributed so much for such a prolonged period as Tony Allen. Rising to prominence as part of Fela's Egypt 70, he's credited by Kuti himself as a co-founder of afrobeat, but his work since has helped carve a singular career as a percussion polymath. 

In 2016, Napoli-via-Berlin duo Nu Guinea were granted rare access to Allen's drum recordings to rework them into an original album called Tony Allen Experiments. It makes them as familiar with his work as any and perfectly placed to curate this Praise You to one of the greatest drummers who ever lived.
