Label linchpin @timothyclerkin returns to Ransom Note Records with the 'Unborn' EP, home to four brand spanking new rave bangers!

The first track to be unleashed is ‘Primary Function’, which sounds like a dubbed-out Boards of Canada on a particularly warped mushroom trip.

Timothy’s music has brought us many special moments over the past few summers and seems bound to do so again, with the new EP already getting played by the likes of Optimo, Lena Willikens and Andrew Weatherall.

After cutting his teeth as one half of Eskimo Twins, Clerkin launched his solo career in 2014 under the now-retired Heretic moniker. Having released on labels including Throne of Blood, Hard Fist and Tusk Wax, he’s since graduated to running his own Insult To Injury imprint from his new base in Amsterdam.

Timothy Clerkin - Primary Function

A small wooden house sat perched on the top of the hill, its straw covered roof dripping with morning dew. It was the only shelter the travellers had come across for miles, so they were left with no other option but to investigate what lay inside. The smell of pine filled their nostrils as they clambered up the slope, making fresh prints in the crisp white snow underfoot. As they neared the entrance, another scent greeted them. They couldn't quite place it but it instilled a sense of unease in them. Raising a clenched fist, they took a deep breath and knocked loudly on the door. 

Marseille-based club, bar and label La Dame Noir's next release comes courtesy of one of Tel Aviv's most promising producers, Eliezer. His Jericho EP journeys through chugging cold wave grooves opening with a moody collaboration with New York producer Curses, plus three reworks of the originals from Middle Sky Boom, Niv Ast and Uriah.

The eight chapter of the infamous Slow Motion Compilation series, “Italian Dance Wave Disco Otto”, has quite some hidden gems to be discovered. Beginning with a track from Marcello Giordani DJ (half of the duo Marvin & Guy), that expresses a perfect Italian melancholic sunset (as the title also states), energetic, strong, but always poetic. Always following that “beachy” vibes we find The Caribbean House, serving a track that could last a century, and we would never mind. Electro hints mixing with deep and balearic vibes: ears glued to the headphones. Moreover, we have again Slow Motion queen, System Olympia with a track that could make even nuns sweat on the dance floor: beats and bass to die for. To close this chapter, you can pamper your ears with a angry balearic track from Gallo, not suited for the more weak hearts, that’s for sure.

@InFlagranti 's Codek Records is back with a classy EP from Barcelona based @IvanFabra. 'Space Bass' is his first release of Codek but follows successful releases on labels such as Night Noise and Emerald & Doreen amongst others. His sound can be defined by a fusion of Nu Disco, Italo, Cosmic Disco-Funk and Balearic vibes, applying 80s analog synthesizers, modern technology and pin-sharp production to ′80s bass heavy Italo sounds.

This EP features 2 originals, the title track (which is remixed by Eve and Yuki Tosaya) and 'Rising Pulsar'.

Australian singer Penelope Trappes came into her own on Penelope One, her debut solo album released via Optimo back in summer of 2017. She followed it up with her sophomore release Penelope Two at the end of last year, this time making a home on fabric's inhouse label Houndstooth. Musically both albums signalled a shift away from the dancefloor-focused productions she'd become known for as one half of The Golden Filter; think minimal soundscapes, distant echoing vocals and sparse atmospheric textures wrought with emotion.

June saw the release of Redeux, her second LP on Houndstooth, which saw her invite several producers to rework the original tracks first heard on Penelope Two. Amongst those tasked with creating their own reimaginations were Cosey Fanny Tutti, Mogwai, Throwing Snow and Aasthma, the collaborative project of Peder Mannerfelt and Par Grindvik. 

For your listening pleasure she provides an immersive mix of cinematic sounds and textures to see you through hump day, including several of the reworks from Redeux...
