They were given no proper directions, only a few coordinates; the rest they'd have to work out themselves. Sheer determination and perseverance would get them there, despite taking a few wrong turns along the way. The directions led them to an abandoned industrial estate with not a soul in sight: now to pinpoint the sounds that would lead them to the dance.

The YAM Records crew return for another instalment in their club-indebted sub label: BAM (Body Action Music). Tasked with following up last year's 90s-fuelled release from Kyoto's Stones Taro is fellow Scuffed Recordings alumni 95Bones, who channels a year of lost dance floors into four killer tracks. Custom made for dark rooms and pounding soundsystems, the EP brings a dose of hardware jams that rattle through acid, breaks, UKG and NY house.

In recognition of the influence of LGBTQ+ culture on contemporary dance music a portion of proceeds from this release will be donated to Stonewall Housing.

Dez Williams' second Woodwork outing further frames his imaginative productions within a wide conceptual space encompassing several styles of deep electronic underground music. Expressive noisy synth riffs and soaked stabs lace their way through a series of jams which pull equally from modern and vintage varieties of techno, acid, house and electro. The resulting sound and feeling averts description or definition, yet there remains an absolute sense of lineage and vague familiarity in the midst of this set of explorative works.

From the quirky acid bass and melodic bleeps of the title track, 'hexentrik', through dub meditations invoked by 'screenshot', with the raw machine sound of 'formit' and enlightened pattern play central to 'nowtt', the EP winds its way toward the eastern pentatonic 'ohaguro' and the dramatic interstellar acid, electro-techno afterburner 'entangled data banks'. This collection offers up several mix-ready individual flavours that also serve an engaging chronicle heard start to finish.

Following Mercia’s first official release and remix of I Still want in 2021, the Coventry based artist offers a full EP which consists of 5 pieces which explore and reflect his home town within the setting of breakbeat and UK bass. 6am starts off the exploration with ethereal atmospheres and lush piano before exploding into a full bodied breaks journey. 95 Bones’ remix follows this with a club ready acetate driven flip of the original which continues the story. The title track City Of Villains and Kiddah remix adds further spark to the package with a searing sub bass which is riddled with deep energy a syncopated reese bassline sharp breaks and shining accents before the EP is rounded off by the bubbling and energetic Hill Cross Flyover which closes out this journey channeling how we've all been feeling this past year waiting for the return of the dance; it carries Strictly Rhythm influence and a prescient vocal motif.
