Royston Summers kicks off 2022 with his new two-tracker ‘Endless / Forever Dreaming’ this March.

After successfully launching the Royston Summers project with a run of singles in 2021 which steadily gained recognition from a widespread variety of DJ’s and tastemaker platforms in the world of contemporary Nu-Disco, the UK artist continues to develop his catalogue with some fresh, dance floor focused material here.

‘Endless’ leads the release and lays down an amalgamation of intertwining, modulating arpeggio lines atop crunchy drums, hazy lead synths lines and squelchy acid-tinged licks.

‘Forever Dreaming’ then shifts focus over to dreamy, resonant pad lines, plucked synth tones and an eighties leaning bass hook alongside dynamically developing percussion.

We live the beginning of the end of the world. The brutalities of capitalism dim our hope. Soaring unemployment, poverty, growing state authoritarianism, proto-fascist mobs, micro-organism plagues, increasingly horrific climate disasters…. Pessimism leads us to understand the urgency of rear guard battle and sabotage of existing orders. Our music is for militants who are fighting to salvage the destruction of our eco-systems; who are constructing truly liberating alternatives on the ashes.

Ryan Berkeley returns with a brand new release, "The Arp Ascending EP" in his signature stripped back and raw house style. 6 tracks that all started out as live jams and reworked into a collection of songs that flow through floating leads, deep bass, dubbed out influences and subtle vocals. Equal parts deep early morning energy and soundscape.

'Goin' Deep opens the EP with a Chicago infused house groove and soaring analogue leads. Keeping the energy at 100%, track 2 'Wise Groove' is a minimal roller with heavy low end, one for the smoke filled rooms and early morning enthusiasts.

'La Niña' boils down to vast soundscapes, a slow number showcasing Berkeley's dynamic side, reminiscent of some of his earlier works.
'The Arp Ascending', the releases namesake song starts with heavy drums and epic arpeggiated synths, underneath a rolling bass-line that keeps things moving, all the way up and up, ending in an epic climax.

The EP dives down again into 'She Sells Sea Shells', a lush downtempo number with layers of blips and bloops weaving through strings and 808's. Rounding out the EP is the dubbed out finisher, 'Polish & Protect' with hypnotic stabs and FM leads, clocking in at an appropriate 4 minutes 20 seconds.

Tusk Wax Thirty Five

Was it possible to feel both satisfied and unfulfilled at the same time? To be complete yet empty? Straddling two worlds that are seemingly contrasting but strangely they both make complete sense to you... People always say the grass is greener but there's no knowing if that's ever really true - usually the thing you need is already staring you right in the face. If it's not, then perhaps you're in the wrong lane altogether.

It's likely when you think of 80s Italo Disco, Alexander Robotnick's name will immediately come to mind. A veteran of the Italian electronic music scene, it's been 40 years since he helped to pioneer the now infamous sound, defined by its infectious arpeggios, analogue drums and robotic vocoders.

Still hard at work today and now in his 70s, Robotnick's latest venture takes him to Italy's Bosconi Records, a departure from releasing on his own Hot Elephant Music, which has been the home of most of his recent work. The Hidden Game is made up of three original cuts, previously unreleased, that blur the lines between Italo, electro and techno, bolstered by a remix from a new flag-bearer of the modern Italo sound, Tiger & Woods co-founder Marco Passarani.

PREMIERE: Alexander Robotnick - Green Past [Bosconi]

Deep in the forest somewhere between steep hill, rushing river and magical creations there's a hidden treasure Jump on a journey with Positiver, with his uplifting debut EP for such an occasion. Timing is great, cuz sun is blasting.

Positiver is a fresh new producer based in VIlnius, Lithuania. His love for music started in DJ duo ''Absurd'', but few years, when pandemic hit the world and rushing life had to stop, it was a time to get back to your trueself. Inspired by musicians like Sweely, Adam Pits or Liquid Earth, experimentation with sound design began. Cozy bedroom grew into studio with synthesizers and jamming abilities. "Groovy drums, jumpy basslines, uplifting pads and acid motives is what drives me the most while jamming in the studio'' - he says.

Things became clearer under the veil of darkness; how ironic that in the stark light of day, nothing but confusion and uncertainty ruled her mind. Though the answers were staring her right in the face, she couldn't see them, there was too many distractions and external influences that obstructed her vision. But when night took hold, and the sweet sound of silence prevailed, the solutions were finally plain to see.. 

For the next release on Portland's Bed of Roses, they welcome MagicPink - a member of the label collective - for her debut EP, Night Visions. A powerful, stirring release in its entirety, the four original tracks journey through twinkling, icy synths, fuzzy, driving EBM and skittering blends of trance and industrial. On the flip a few other producers get their hands on the music; French post-punk band Blind Delon take on the title track, while label mate and boss, Cole Baby and Break Mode, respectively, also add their own personal touch to two of the other cuts.

PREMIERE: MagicPink - Night Visions [Bed of Roses]

Dora was beautiful, her hair was long and elegant as she walked calmly towards the field of flowers. A few hours ago she had been flying in the sky, the deep radiant blue had seemed as if it might swallow the plane. However, now she was here, back on earth with her feet firmly rooted to the ground.

The clouds had rolled in, perhaps a reflection of her sombre mood. She stood all alone, a little lost amidst the radiant mirage of colours and pearly flowers which dazzled and disrupted the otherwise grey, beige background.

Perhaps she was one of them too, a bright flower amidst a hazy world.

Zillas on Acid are set to release a new EP on Jennifer Cardini and partner Noura Labbani’s record label Dischi Autumno. This one also features some killer remixes with the highlight coming in the form of a cinematic kraut inspired affair from Lo Kindre who does a spectacular job of reworking the original.
