Aspetuck - Distant Messenger EP [afin47]

Crisp, brown leaves covered the ground throughout the woods; a beautiful autumnal carpet that would soon be swept away by the cold temperatures. There was something about this time of year that comforted them. Perhaps it was the freshness of the air that filled their lungs, or the beautiful tones of the bare oak trees that navigated their path home. Whatever it was, in these moments, the world felt peaceful and undisturbed.

For their sophomore release, International Extraterrestrial Music welcome Torom to the label for a five-track EP centred around organic rhythms. Limited to just 200 copies, the release —which follows the label's inaugural outing last year from Herb LF— blends earthy, wooden textures with fourth world atmospheres, layered over a sturdy foundation of rolling drums.

Altered State Is an 8 track collaborative VA which reflects on a year that has changed all of our lives in many ways. After months of lockdown away from nightclubs we began to sense that dance music lacked context and became more nostalgic. As producers we were drawn to slower tempo’s and we wanted to conceptualise these feelings of disillusionment onto a record that would be released as lockdown eased and life returned to ‘’normal’’. The E.P is designed to introduce us back into the clubbing state of mind with downtempo tracks that are melancholic, experimental and up-lifting. Tracks which will ease you into a night out and warm up the cold abandoned dance-floors. 
This project is raising money for MIND charity with profits from the release.

The computer whizzed and buzzed - it flashed and flickered before bursting into flames.

Watching from atop the towerblock he looked down at the burning machine as it smoked away several floors below from where he'd thrown it. This was a good moment - it had been a long time coming and he was glad to be free of its wicked digital clutches which had plagued his days for far too long. The sky was dark up above but it was sunny in his heart. 

Armec is set to release a new EP on Furthur Electronix, a killer release which see's him elevate his sound to a new level drawing upon melody and deep euphoric tones which delight and entice.

It was the middle of the night, but you could barely notice. The streets were illuminated by towers of digital light, and the foot traffic was as busy as it had ever been downtown. A blaring, authoritative voice barked the hourly curfew warning through a megaphone, but nobody listened. As he gazed up in wonder, the world was reduced to a dull, static buzz. The moment fled. A scurrying stranger collided hard into his shoulder, shoving him violently back into reality. A hasty apology slithered out of the scoundrel’s mouth as he disappeared into the endless sea of busy bodies. He rubbed his shoulder. It wouldn’t be until later that he realised it was gone.

Berlin-based label Awkwardly Social celebrated their inaugural release last summer with an EP from Aroent, and now they’re back with the follow-up courtesy of live act and producer Lårry. After solid releases on Super Hexagon and Fusion Diagnostics, Lårry presents ‘Nines,’ a versatile four-tracker that moves through techno and bass soundscapes that each have their own character.

Banoffee Pies Records 16th Original Series release comes via a 4 track 
Split EP collaboration between Kincaid, and Zenzizenz, the ambient moniker of techno producer Viers. After a long year behind us, and likely ahead, this record takes a temporary step into the calm and adds reflection to the blurred months that passed. 

The release is a collection of textural bumps and melodies opening with Kincaid’s 9 minute “Slow Stumble Home” - an aptly titled down tempo trip through a confused space, layered with composition, like a Playstation home screen theme on Mushrooms. Calm follows with two tracks from Zenzizenz - “Returning From Home”, a steady meditation through rumbling sounds soon shift to a new mood on the B side. “Falling Off” offers a more lethargic wandering through the marshland before BP016 comes to it’s close with “Single Cell”, the 2nd Kincaid track, which concludes with a chaptered 4x4 structure and slow bursts of energy within. Time to absorb. Love BP x
