Cabezas’ new EP “Raya” is a distillation of the conversations that have shaped him over the last decade. From the Danceteria-ready sheen of “Madonna” to the nocturnal-italo pulse of “Sergio”, Cabezas covers a wide swath of sonic ground, starting in almost-familiar places and spiraling out into the unknown. 

This is Cabezas’ second EP, following up his 2018 Börft Records release Mi Calle. 

Born in Chile and living in Sweden, Patricio Cabezas is a multi-talented musician/producer. After years as a touring bass player, he re-com- mitted himself to electronic music, trading his pickups for a circuit board in search of the boundaries of sound. 

Since childhood Cabezas has thrown himself into the in-between. With a life of hybrid timezones, cultures and identities, his approach to music is similarly liminal. Driven by discovery and experimentation, Cabezas hybridizes genres, themes and instrumentation to create electronic music that lives on the edge, built for the mains, headphones and everywhere in between.

After the confrontational Jack Carel EP in February, Whypeopledance is back with Marching Machines’ „Basement“ EP, a release dedicated to all the flashes you’re having of the culture we miss so much, to each hiss of the fog machine you remember, everybody you ever touched on the dance floor, and each staircase that took you underground.
Marching Machines are electronic music producer Dimitri Andreas, and former Radius Records boss and DJ, Spacid, both proudly wearing t-shirts saying „More than two decades in the biz“, and hailing from the country that gave the world some of the best electronic music ever, Belgium! Their new EP contains three original tracks, two remixes, and one instrumental, bringing us to a total of 6 reasons to peek through the keyhole and check out what’s hiding in the „Basement“ on our Bandcamp page.

Starting off with „Clamps“, Marching Machines open with a track for the nipples of the world and every club toilet queue you ever waited. The second track „Spreader“ brings you to the deepest darkroom fantasies by presenting memorable melodies. „Leash“ introduces deviant howls and nasty verses by Lithuania’s best-kept secret, Jaroška, something that would easily go on repeat in Gaspard Noe’s RECTUM club from Irreversible.

We are also happy to introduce two very unique flips to fill the basement's prophecy. Carcass Identity remix of „Leash“ is lubed to the bone, an omen of an incoming trip for the dirtiest of dancers. The second remixer on the EP is Five Rituals taking the originally singing synths of the future and cold-blooded march in the „Spreader“ for a walk on the break side of things.

The wheels had been in motion for a while now, long before the revelations of last night had thrown a spanner in the works. Their trip had been planned to the tee: accommodation, travel, activities, a roadmap to their dream destination. But now trust had been compromised and guilt had reared its ugly head; would the journey really be worth the pain?

Goa trance is at the core of Vilnius-based label Electric Shapes' next release — an album from Rambal Cochet, the alias of St. Petersburg-based producer Volta Cab. Having previously released music for Soil Records and IDA Sound, he brings his signature touch to his new LP 'Chaos Is Order Yet Undeciphered', which is fuelled by drama, mystery and tension. To add to the magic, the label have invited local producer Jokios Kulturos, Frankfurt's Tassilo and Anatolian Weapons to take Volta Cab's trance-inducing trips off road and down new, thrilling paths.

Life had become nomadic; they travelled from place to place, finding shelter for a day or two before moving on to new climes. It wasn't the life they'd chosen for themselves, but they had no choice in the matter. This existence had been forced upon them by powers far much greater than their own; now their only mission was finding a safe space to inhabit.

Milanese label Nothing Is Real took a brief interlude from showcasing what Italy's fertile music scene has to offer with their 'Made In Mexico' compilation earlier this year, and now they return their attention to their stomping ground through the sounds of Gabriele Lori, aka Astroloop. Marking his debut solo outing, following collaborations on Freerange Records, the three original tracks touch on several sonic influences—from hypnotic house to mid-tempo grooves and driving synthwave—and are bolstered by a remix from Mexican producers Theus Mago and Moisees.

The human rights situation in Russia is becoming more acute each year. We believe that the violation of human rights is unacceptable. With Hand to Hand VA we want to draw public attention to this problem and provide assistance to organizations involved in helping people faced with arbitrariness. We have brought together like-minded musicians who share the ideas of cooperation, freedom and unity. 

All proceeds from the VA will be split equally between the Russian human rights organizations: Mediazona (an independent media platform focused on the judiciary, law enforcement and penal system in Russia founded by Pussy Riot members Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova) and OVD-Info (an independent human rights media project aimed at combating political persecution).

PREMIERE | ADSX / Hanoben - Frank’s Einsamkeit [Duca Bianco] 2021

Freeride Millenium label co-founder Jorkes quickly follows up his well received Wet Dream EP with a new five tracker including remixes from Younger Than Me and Curses.

Jorkes is the driving force behind the ever-excellent Freeride Millenium label, he hosts a residency at radio 80000 alongside ParisBöhm and has been busy producing and streaming over the last year, despite the pandemic. His recent ‘Wet Dreams’ release was a critical success, with BBC radio support, a raft of press coverage and a mass of DJ support, now he follows that up with this latest inventive and rugged EP of club sounds.

Opener 'All Your Juices' has snappy snares and a taught, tight groove that makes for a mechanical rhythm. It eventually grows looser with big synth sounds and vamping chords that layer in fluidly and a great sense of electronic funk. Remixers Younger Than Me are a Berlin based duo that represents a link between the old and the new. They have released on the likes of Tusk Wax and here flip the original into a dark and pulsing tune with hammering drums and edgy, trance influenced synths.

In original form, 'Dancer in the Dark' has a kinetic drum and hit combination that makes you immediately jerk your body. As the synth energy grows, celestial chords bring light and cosmic rays and take you off into the future. Dark disco don Curses then steps up with another brilliantly rugged and raw remix that layers sleazy synths into angular drums. Finally, the brilliant 'Afraid of Letting You Go' has an eerie and mysterious vibe with crashing hits and unsettling synths that make for a dystopian abandoned warehouse feel.

Once again here Jorkes has cooked up left of centre sounds that draw on synth, disco and techno in bold new ways. Artwork as always comes from the ever creative Daniel Rajcsanyi.
