Respected house producer Josh Butler is back, armed with his brand new ‘Link’ EP on Edwin Oosterwal and Joris Voorn’s legendary Rejected imprint. The EP once again proves Josh’s ability to continuously deliver the kind of high quality tech-house that has entrenched him as an integral figure in the underground UK house scene.

The title track ‘Link’ stays true to Butler’s less-is-more philosophy while also showcasing his incredible sound-design and production know-how. The percussion takes centre stage as Josh brings in conga rolls, a soulful vocal refrain and lush, atmospheric pads to contribute to an inimitable groove. Two distinct mixes of the track, a melodic mix and a dub mix, are generously provided on the EP and both demonstrate the intricacies inherent in Josh’s production.

Rounding off the release is ‘Need Me’, the EP’s deeper venture that combines minimalist instrumentation centred around a grooving bassline, subtly making itself known above the driving percussion. Throughout the EP, Josh succeeds in delivering vast symphonic landscapes within the pretext of measured and characteristic instrumental restraint. Partygoers can expect to hear both sides of the EP receive serious airtime across the club circuit as the Ibiza season kicks into full swing this month.

After exceptional releases on much-respected imprints like Dixon’s Innervisions, Drumpoet Community and Mood Music, Berlin-based artist duo FRANKEY & SANDRINO brings their sophisticated, deep house sound to Kompakt with the HYDRAE EP – three new and highly versatile tracks that prove once more the perfect symbiosis of Frank Beckers’ technical know-how and Sandrino Tittel’s selector expertise from his days as resident DJ at Wuppertal’s famed Butan Club. Both the title cut HYDRAE and b-side buster IZAR feature the expressive, silky synth solos we’ve come to love from the two soundsmiths, embedded in the focussed throbbing of their precision beats. Closer MERGING BLACK sports slightly more jagged contours, thanks to some psychoactive synth sequencing and a howling trumpet –  enriched with Frankey & Sandrino’s stunning sense for dramaturgic refinement. Voluptuous and minimalist at the same time, these tracks spin a captivating floor lore that will enchant any serious fan of electronic dance music.

Frankey & Sandrino - Hydrae - Snippet

Spin, spin, spin, spinning, spin. Rotation, rotation, rotation. Dance, dance, dance. The wheel was in motion, the movement had begun and there was no turning back. It was perilous by nature, fascinating by design. A beautiful link, stunning, sublime. The world kept on moving, the dance was on, where it would land, who knew. 
Turbo are arguably one of the most prolific record labels to have emerged since the millenium. The output is vast, varied and emphatic. Up next is Autarkic who recently released on Disco Halal. He is remixed by none other than Red Axes.

A silence fell throughout the great tent. The lights darkened and a strange fear ushered its way through those who had gathered to watch. This was a cult, a celebration, a plan for the future. However, that did not mean that it did not strike fear into their very core, for it was supposed to, it was supposed to be unnerving. Abnormal, abhorrent, it was a thing of beauty. A large cry echoed throughout the space, it beckoned and bellowed against the walls of the tent. This was for my people. 
Deeply Cultured is a record label originating from the streets of London. Moda, based in Sweden provides their second release.

Positive or negative, only time would tell. Life and death depended on the outcome but at present he remained calm, cool and collected. He had little choice. That plus or minus would determine the very course of his future, his existence, his soul. The hour would come, and soon he would know all. However, for now, he was happy to sit and wait, watching the wall, before an outcome was revealed. 
Flau is a record label of which you might be unfamiliar with. Based in Tokyo, Japan they have been operating since 2006 and have remained low key and under the radar of many. Mid June saw the release of 'Open Close Open' : a four track EP from Robert Lippok. And whilst we aren't in the habit of premiering music which is already out in the open, this seemed like a perfect opportunity to showcase something from the unknown.

The number six remains ever present, ever dark, ever monotonous. It was here now. With them. 
Ossia has remixed the work of Silver Waves on Howling Owl/ Portals Editions. He describes the process as follows. 
"All sounds, apart from the main hand-drum pattern, have been coaxed out of Silver Waves original recording, and skewed via an old Trident mixing desk, re-sampled & played / pitched / reversed / filtered / distorted and shot back through the Space-Echo, an old Copicat Delay + a few other bits and pieces. The track was made in two full days of aggressive meditation, with little sleep in between."

The tower loomed ominously from above. Grey brick and damp wood shrouded what lay inside its cavernous walls, you might never know of the true beuaty which existed beyond its prison. A room for babette was waiting somewhere within. It was enchanting, peaceful and still, almost as if part of some distant world. Not the world inhabited outside the brick of the tower.
Up next on Cosmic Pint Glass steps Toby Tobias. He unveils two tracks for the label accompanied by a Ptaki remix. The release follows a busy spell for the relatively new label who have previously released music from the likes of Ruf Dug and Tony G.
