Every day, Hame DJ would cycle past Fremantle’s Flying Angel Club. The nautical icon stirred daydreams within Hame, a utopian vision of a seaside club where all boredom is amused. He threw his sample library overboard and tightened his modular jib, augmenting one long live take to create Flying Angel Club, the salty soundtrack to Carnival season in Freo Di Janeiro.

Waves rippled gently on the shore, glistening like a million diamonds under the hot sun. The best way to see the coastline was by boat, there was so much hidden from those who only explored the area on dry land. They missed all the secret gems the water had to offer; the coves that glittered with golden sands and the old caves that led to secluded sparkling pools to dip your toes in. Out here on the ocean, there was so much to take in but it was only those who took the risk that would reap the rewards...

A new year, a new label: Berlin DJ and producer Acidfinky launches her Twisting Knobs imprint into the world with a VA release featuring music from three artists and herself. Dubbed as music "for travelling in space", the dreamy sounds on offer come courtesy of Guava, rayne and Leipzig-based producer bavedacon who's behind our pick. Marking the drummer, DJ and radio host's first electronic music release, 'tretboot' sees him exploring a softer, more meditative side of electro with lush pads, squelchy acid lines and crisp percussion.

All profits from the release will be donated to 'Women Life Freedom', a Berlin-based collective who are working to highlight and support the voices of the feminist uprising in Iran.

Skins continues forging his own path with a new label celebrating the uplifting and futuristic sounds of jungle, with a four-tracker featuring tracks with early support from Katiusha, Tañ and Frazer Ray.

Whilst some will know Skins from his days DJing regularly around Oxford, his run of self-released white label techno EPs or last year’s underground hit 24 Hour Dub, more recently he has turned his attention back to the music which made him fall in love with it all in the first place:

“I vividly remember the effect that the futuristic sounds of 90s jungle and drum ‘n’ bass had on me as a kid, hearing snippets of tracks in video games and later stumbling across artists like Alaska, Future Engineers, Seba, Peshay and LTJ Bukem. After years engrossing myself in the cavernous spaces of dub techno, this record feels like a return to my roots, bringing my style into a new arena which still feels like home. Larmour, the UK-born and Tbilisi Georgia-based artist, is set to release his upcoming 'False Thoughts EP' on March 3rd via MOTE Records, aka Mood Of The Era. The EP takes listeners on a journey through Larmour's personal experiences and emotions as he navigates a new country and discovers the challenges and triumphs of life in a new place.

The 'False Thoughts EP' showcases Larmour's love for breaks, combined with a rich tapestry of emotions, from love to pain, loneliness, joy, and nostalgia. The four tracks on the EP, including the title track 'False Thoughts,' '52Down', 'Over' and the highly-anticipated 'N.A,' offer a glimpse into Larmour's world and provide a moving, danceable soundscape that explores the complexities of human emotions.

Klasse Wrecks & Kid Who launch .NFO, a series of records showcasing previously unreleased house, techno, acid and more from the 90s Amiga Demoscene.

Created using early sample sequencers such as ProTracker, these tracks radiate the authentic energy of techno’s golden era - and they’ve been hiding in plain sight in Demoscene web repositories for many years. It was during the long days of the 2020 lockdowns that Kid Who began to explore these archives, sifting through thousands of tracks to eventually amass a collection of several hundred of his favourites. Curated by Klasse Wrecks and Kid Who in close collaboration with the talented artists behind them, the .NFO project aims to bring some of these finds to the broader dance music community via a series of VA 12”s and mixes.

Bangkok-based artist @musicvell releases debut EP “Floating Mists, Warm Vistas,” on the @boiledwonderlandrecords banner.

In a vell of floating mists so fine, Warm vistas danced in a twisty line. Boiled Wonderland records played a tune, Singing a song to the glowing moon.

Mists giggled and twirled with glee, Vistas whispered secrets to the sea. Boiled Wonderland laughed along, Records skipped, oh what a song!

Through the vell, a whimsical flight, Floating dreams took their height. Warm vistas hugged the sky so tight, Boiled Wonderland spun day to night.

Records danced on the starry floor, A nonsense rhyme forevermore. In this world where imagination exists, Vell, vistas, records – a dreamer’s tryst!
