Helsinki’s finest return with 'Happy', the second in a two-part single series that heralds their first new material since fall 2013. 

Shine 2009 were Cascine’s first-ever artist, without which the label would have never been formed. Their brand of refined, nonchalant and distinctly Scandinavian pop music coming to define the sound of Cascine for years to come.

‘Happy’ was written, performed, produced and mixed by the band themselves and mastered by Shawn Hatfield. Artwork is by Jaakko Pallasvuo and photography used throughout the campaign by Helen Korpak.

Premiere: Henry Saiz - Secrets (Tuff City Kids Remix)

The second release in our series of Split EPs comes from Marcos Cabral & Daniel Araya and features two tracks from each artist. New York's Cabral is known for his experimental IDM and techno on labels like L.I.E.S. while Daniel Araya has recently released an album of acid, techno and industrial on the Classicworks label and is well known for his outputs on Borft records or Kontra Musik. 

Araya's 'We Almost Lost Detroit' is first and is a truly haunted deep techno cut with sparse acid undulations and a real sense of manic in the rasping synth lines. Softer pads in the background only add to the spooky nature of the track. 'Ghost Bass' is the other Araya cut and this one is more up on its toes, with mid tempo kicks down low and wonky chords up top. It's a mind melting tune that trips deep into the night. 

'Live At The Egg' is Cabral's first effort and is a lonely and icy techno track that is supple and seductive in its long lines and paddy drums. After getting you into a state of hypnosis, some freaky vocal sounds only add to the unsettling nature of it all later on. 'Cuts & Bruises' rounds things out in squelchy and depraved techno territory. Muted acid stabs are off in the distance as swampy drums suck you in from the front. It’s a brilliantly odd tune that close out a fine EP.

The cold wind howled along the inside of the tunnel and she shuddered slightly beneath the strain of the chill. The mountain region was home to a flurry of short rocky pathways which went beneath the towering giants that loomed above. Carved into the rock these man made holes created an intricate crossing without the need for vertical climbing and exploration amidst the peaks. Every music lover feels a specific, even if sometimes undeserved, sense of achievement when they discover an obscure and underrated artist. So we were particularly stoked when we caught wind of France-based Marc Bianco. The little-known producer is about to again release an EP for French label Moonrise Hill Material – an imprint whose tracks we’ve premiered before – and the record is top quality. The five-tracker is made up of structurally diverse tracks that nevertheless unify under an aesthetic umbrella of sample-heavy, gritty and jazzy sounds.

Our premiere is the last and longest track on the record and probably our favourite, too, Harland Jam. Wonderfully fluent keys as well as splashy percussion staple this track, which you could imagine as the soundtrack for a hybrid jazz-house club. Perhaps it’s most impressive for it’s delicate balance of continuity and change: for the background-listener, the track could sound monotonous, but with a bit more attention the song’s dynamism and slow incline is clear. The track subtly picks up at around 2m30s, with energetic drum fills and keyboard jamming on top of the groovy three-chord progression that repeats throughout.

The record, called Serious Mass, will be the label’s ninth release. If you’re into modern and daring house records with an old-school feel, you’ll probably find it worth a purchase.

Tunnelvisions, the collaboration project between Raynor de Groot and Emiel van den Dungen, approaches music with an open mind and fuses different musical elements together in their endeavour to bring back some warmth on the dance floor. Their very well received debut album ‘Midnight Voyage’, which was released on Atomnation last year, showcases their shared vision of contemporary club music in the most organic way possible.

In celebration of the album, Atomnation is set to release a remix package of ‘Midnight Voyage’, featuring remixes from Aera and Luca Musto, next to two alternative versions of ‘Guava’ coming from the hands of Tunnelvisions. With a multitude of shows lined up for this summer, among which a performance at DGTL Festival, the duo sets out to share their collaborative philosophy towards club culture.

WhoMadeWho are that rare thing, a band with their own sound. And their latest longplayer ‘Through the Walls’ adds yet more fuel to the restless, fluctuating bonfire. It sounds as if they won’t cool off or settle down anytime soon and their new single ‘Goodbye To All I Know’ demonstrates that in remarkable fashion.

Recorded as one of the last songs for the album in September 2017 the track is actually based on a demo for the solo project of singer Tomas Høffding but “ended up being a perfect choice for the song”.

‘Goodbye To All I Know’ was produced in an analogue way with a lot of different synths and real time knob turning. “And then we added more analogness when we teamed up with Simon Littauer who fired up his big ass modular setup for some great ambient additions” adds Høffding.

Rounding things off WhoMadeWho line-uped a top draw remix package for 'Goodbye To All I Know'. The brooding, experimental original is taken to town by the likes of Marvin & Guy, Eagles & Butterflies, Yuksek and Fell Reis

Kicking off proceedings, Permanent Vacation affiliates Italian duo Marvin & Guy deliver their aptly named 'Cosmica Remix', a subtle intergalactic groover that will entrance dancefloors from Berlin to LA. Following on, the ever-impressive Eagles & Butterflies delivers a darker, rolling Techno edged cut of sonic brilliance. Next up and stripping it back, Fell Reis treats us to two cuts, a subtle Day mix and club focused Night Remix constructed for the depth of the club. Finally, and perhaps saving the best till last, French production wizard and Partyfine label boss, Yuksek delivers groove laden acid-tinged reinterpretation that will ignite the dancefloor

‘Through The Walls’ the trio’s 6th full-length studio album was released on 19th January 2018 and is available digitally and in stores worldwide. The album features the already previously released singles ‘I Don’t Know’and ‘Dynasty’

Born in Warsaw, lived in Berlin, currently based in Shenzhen. About Kasar

Arnold Kasar is a musical jack of all trades: in countless projects, the musician grown in the southern area of the picturesque Black Forest left his traces. In 2017 he released the highly praised album "EINFLUSS" together with Hans-Joachim Roedelius on the famous Deutsche Grammophon Label and also a new Album with the FRIEDRICH LIECHTENSTEIN TRIO on OKeh Records/Sony Classical. However, the trained mastering-engineer is also capable of going solo, as he proved with his solo debut "The Piano Has Been Smoking" in 2012. Now he returned to his first instrument and his timing couldn't be better, since the piano returned to new strength in the music world.

The glow from the rays of the mid afternoon sun illuminated the white covered floor with delicate precision. Shadows were scattered beneath the branches of trees whilst the daylight from above was stark and brutally vivid in contrast. Snow had been falling for a long time now and he could not recall the last time he had seen the dense greenery of the mountains which loomed in the distance far away. There was a hazy quality to the air as the soft flakes landed upon the ground. It crunched beneath the boot. 

PTU has remixed the prolific Maelstrom on the record label RAAR run by himself and Louisahhh which is due for release this week. Heavy duty, fun focused club sounds with a dark twist.

The disbelief habit was what allowed them to maintain haste and move from one day to the next, there was little here to live for in this deadbeat town. One day he dreamed that he might leave this space but it didn't appear that this might be anytime soon...

Jamal Moss is set to release a new EP on the Barcelona based record label Modern Obscure Music under the alias of The Sun God. He delivers experimental eclecticism in his signature style.

There was a sweet sound which lingered in the pool hall, it was not the usual sound of Friday night violence and trouble from the boys but a bittersweet groove which poured through the speakers. One by one the players began to take note and decided to stop for a second. The green felt of each table was illuminated by the glow of a faint, dim light. It was as if they glowed a fluorescent green radiance set for the discotheque. The players moved into the centre of the room and listened carefully, it was time to move and dance. 

Sharif Laffrey knows the deal. A veteran producer with a penchant for house music of the highest quality, he returns once again with an extended cut of acid laden beats and breaks. All with a catchy sample.

The ancient city held a voice of reason, a narrative which was hard to defy. For many years there had been an enchanted presence which hung amidst the towering city walls, it was as if some form of brutal magic had enchanted the magnificent kingdom and now they were under the snare of a greater force. The Haiphong boogie was what it had been so aptly named, somewhat satirical and somewhat in order to allow for it not to intimidate day by day. Nobody was scared of a boogie... were they? 

Is that summer we here? Just around the corner you say? Hatchback certainly thinks so as he prepares to release a new LP on Lo Recordings as he brings in the sunny season.

The painting was somewhat distorted by the fragmented nature of his head from last summer. It had been a tough year but little by little he had been able to piece together what needed to be drawn from memory in order to begin his healing. It would always take for him to feel more like himself again but he had never particularly expected to find himself sat upon a beach painting out pictures of his problems from another life far away. This was supposed to be meditative rather than pensive, happy not sad. 

Benjamin Frohlich has invited some of his favourite producers to contribute to a remixes EP which features appearances from the likes of Chinaski and Aera. It is I:Cube however, who steals the show.
