Mexican DJ and producer La Guardia De la Luz is to serve up the final Hell Yeah release of the year. Awakenings is a digital collection of long and lazy, stoned and psychedelic Balearic beats for the headz.

La Guardia De la Luz can do everything from timeless house to introspective grooves and has been doing so for years on labels like Paper Recordings and Sum Over Histories. Here he serves up some sumptuous desert island sounds, starting with the slow house beats and heavy dub styles of ‘Awakenings.’

‘A Starfish Named Acid’ then bathes you in more cuddly drum rotations while dropping in cosmic synths and mellow 303s.

‘Amatista’ (Playa Sudamericana Mix) features Chris Koehn on guitar and picks up the pace with a fat and funky bassline and tropical percussion, while the LGDLL ESP Yacht Mix is built on loose broken beats with sunny, airy chords that take you to paradise.

Lastly, ‘Cuarzo Humo’ (El Ambiente Mix) is a steamy and humid jungle soundtrack with exotic percussion and the sound of gently breaking waves.

This is pure escapist heaven.

Israeli-born Berlin based producer and DJ Omer debuts his first release on Cocktail d'Amore with two offerings of celestial house. The title cut blends the sounds of the east with an immediately seductive atmosphere of bright melodies leaving the listener plenty of room to be transfixed through it's entirety. “Dust” dives deeper to reveal a more melancholic mood built on a symphony of lush pads and swirling metallic percussion. On remix duties are the wonderfully quirky Estonian duo Ajukaja & Andrevski who deliver an oddball re-imagining which sends the original into outer space as it gently builds to sparkling fervor only heard on the outskirts of galaxies. Rounding out the release is Man Power with an acid tinged burner which explodes into en excitement of live percussion and pads leaving any dance floor in complete ecstasy.

After our party in La Rotonde last week with the guys from Clandestino, we joined them in Leeds a couple of days ago for another memorable party. A perfect occasion to premiere a track off the next Joe Morris EP entitled "The Voyage", coming out on local label Balearic Social, which already gave us the Zmatsutsi EP earlier this year. The opening track "Bahia" is a finely produced slow-paced number that combinates playful chimes, Ibiza piano parts and ethereal vocal pads. The perfect balearic soundtrack for an Indian summer.

Caravan’s Coarsica EP is a gorgeous six-tracker of wandering drum machines and shiny synths, washed with the burnt umbers and viridescent hues of the Australian outback. Computer-funk with a green thumb. As the track-listing suggests, Coarsica is a tribute to subtle and compelling beauty of Australia’s native flora, as if Costa Georgiadis and Dâm-Funk got away from the big smoke for a weekend and spent the whole time by the river cooking this bad boy up. Like rugged and stoic Banksia, or the regal Flindersia, each track on the Coarsica EP provides a dappled shade under which the weary dancer can rest in these hot summer months.

He traipsed around the empty streets of the dilapidated town, cutting a lonely, somewhat ghostly figure. He sighed, his shoulders heavy. Everyone he knew had gone. Moved on to pastures new. He missed them dearly. Missed the laughter, the fun.

Wandering up one of the side streets, he realised he'd stumbled into unfamiliar territory. "How odd," he muttered to himself, curiously. "I've never been up here before." As he meandered further up the cobbled street his ears pricked up. A beat carried on breeze and down towards him. Where was it coming from? He followed it, like a hound follows a scent, until he caught it. He stopped outside what appeared to be an old tavern, nervously and cautiously he pushed the door ajar. Joyous laughter and music filled the room. He stood staring in awe and began to cry tears of happiness. 

Bioroots Drift EP is the inaugural release on Enclave Records, a label whose ethos is to deliver house, disco and techno without all the gimmicks. They aim to be "solace from the meaningless, the throwaway, the empty."

WOLF Music (@nysoul) heads Stu & Matt are individuals who are always keeping their ear to the ground in order to discover new talents for their longstanding record label. They also always keep faith with their residents and artists who have been with them since pretty much right in the beginning. They've actually stated in the past that the label is based around their three resident producers, Greymatter, KRL and Medlar who have been a staple on the label and regulars at their showcases since the very beginning. Believing in the development of an artist's sound is maybe not something every label does these days, usually playing it safe and going with the sound of the moment. But not WOLF Music, who stay true to their roots.

With that being said, resident @Medlar is back with another EP for the UK staple. Speaking of development of sound, WOLFEP042 is once again an indication that Medlar is an extremely versatile producer, this time opting for a more Detroit-inspired, electro sound. Each track on the EP is named after one of the producer's favourite restaurants in Palermo, Istanbul, Paris and of course Peckham. And who better to enlist for help on a track based on a South London restaurant than @FYIChris, two of Peckham's finest. 

Our premiere, 'Queen of Tacos' has some tough drums with a sampled drum break forming the basis of the groove while a deep bass perfectly plays into the rhythm. Warm chords and warbled acidy tones contrast the slightly colder drums, lending a nice balance to the tune. A saw-y lead synth takes us away into the climax while a cheeky vocal sample asks "are you telling me that you can't get this in Mexico?". We foresee this one to be a dance floor monster, taking punters into some joy-filled late night moments.
