Taking care of the record's B-side, Davis comes correct after a slew of releases on Live At Robert Johnson and Endless. Spiralling marimbas and 80’s synthwave aesthetics dominate our pick of the bunch "Clone Heart" as the TR-707 led rhythm packs a punch. Guaranteed hands-in-the-air material across the board!

Exclusive Fort Romeau 'DADA Pt. 1 (Terr Remix)'

Jennifer Cardini's eclectic label Correspondant connects the (musical) dots once again and brings together two of the electronuc musice scene's in-demand artists, namely Fort Romeau and Terr. The former just delivered two impressive remixes for Tunnelvisions' tune 'Rafaka's Song', respectively another one for Anja Schneider's track 'Give It All To Me', while Michael Greene, Fort Romeau's real name, released his first EP of the year, 'Heaven & Earth' on Permanent Vacation in February. Now it's about time for the artist's second EP of the year, which goes by the name of 'DADA' and is simply described as 'Paranoid music for paranoid times' by the Fort Romeau himself. The four tracker is provided with two original versions, 'DADA Pt. 1' and part 2 and comes with remixes from Niv Ast and Terr. The latter delivered an impressive EP, 'Neuromancer', on Correspondant last year. Almost ten months later the Berlin based artist and Clash Lion co-label head has become a key-figure within the scene. Releases such as 'Tale Of Devotion' on Phantasy Sound or her remix for Benjamin Fröhlich's track 'Holloway', out on Permanent Vacation, underline the aforemention status quo of the artist. Now Daniela Caldellas, Terr's real name, takes on remix duties for Fort Romeau's 'DADA Pt. 1' and delivers, once again, a classy yet quite electroid approach. Terr's remix manages to evoke a warmth within the mechanical sound sill keeping the paranoid momentum of the Fort Romeau's orginal. 

Fort Romeau's EP 'DADA' will be released on Correspondant on May 17th, 2019.

Thirteen years after Quarion released the instant classic "Karasu" on Drumpoet, he returns to the label with yet another remarkable debut. His first album "Shades" takes you on an emotional journey to the deeper realms of House Music encompassed by elements of Detroit
Techno, Dub and Electronica. All of the nine tracks fully display Quarion's unmistakable musicality and state-of-the-art production skills and are, undoubtedly, the artist's most accomplished work to date. Ever since starting to produce as Quarion back in 2006, Yanneck Salvo has enjoyed an exciting career with stellar releases on Retreat, Innervisions, Tamed Musiq and certainly Drumpoet. 2016 proved to be a turning point artistically as well as personally, which eventually triggered an outburst of inspiration consolidating in the core of "Shades". After two years spent on refining this music, Yanneck felt that the bond between the tracks was too strong to be split across various EPs and chose instead to elaborate his vision as a full-scale album. The nine pieces that make up “Shades“ are quintessential Quarion, yet their scope is both broader and more precise than on previous releases by the Swiss producer. The beautiful melancholy of “Indigo (Aries)”, the rich layers of “Periwinkle” or the panoramic journey of “Cobalt (Plains)” are testimonial to the new depth in the music of the Berlin-based artist.
In addition, the album has highly benefitted from a more experimental writing process, showcased in the bass-heavy ambient piece “Teal” or the sliding pads of “Ultramarine”. This passion for unrestrictive creativity is clearly at the heart of “Azure (Émotion)”, a thrilling collaboration with Ripperton where both artists twist life out of a modular system.
Finally there are tracks as intense as the Acid workout “Sapphire (Tessellate)“ and the techno-influenced “Cerulean“. Their electric tension easily creates a watershed moment on the dance floor that lingers long after the night is gone. An imperceptible thread lays within the album's tracks. It molds “Shades” into an outstanding
album by an artist on top of his game, highlighting Quarion's ever-growing talent for producing music of the deeper kind.

Long-time Correspondant correspondent Theus Mago returns to the label with four more extra-terrestrial funk blends via their 'Osla' EP. Bringing a little Duro damage to the mix, it’s best we buckle up. 

‘Yeo & Ushwaka’ delivers "a rapid river of acid on a speed boat powered by chunky, shoulder-switching drum machine soul while space-funk stampede." Like all Mago’s work, it’s a one of a kind trip.

Pacing through corridors that lack a definitive end, he attempts to make sense of it all. Something seems glaringly off, but he just can’t place his finger on it. As walls ebb, bow and collapse, he happily accepts the seemingly impossible nature of the shapes around him as part of a structured reality. The previously straight corridor begins to bend wildly, like a dowsing rod in nervous hands, leading in directions he’s unsure he wishes to be heading. The path tapers off and the walls fluctuate with incomprehensible iridescent colour before shattering into a landscape of fractals which promptly dissolve. A white room and a closed door is all that remains. “Should I open it?” he wonders. 

The latest EP set for release on highly respected French label Astropolis comes via techno producer Blutch. The EP features six tracks of glee-inducing electronica that gives credence to the saying “the French do it better”. Bookending the tracklist is a gorgeous remix of ‘La cité des étoiles’ by Kompakt affiliate Michael Mayer. The track glows with an evolving motif of glittering synth leads that build towards a larger-than-life finale, all happening atop a steady foundation of shuffling hats and driving techno kicks.
