Bristolian Italo producer Emmet Read delivers his debut solo 4 track EP.

Inspired by the likes of Giorgio Moroder, Clio, Mr Flagio and more, this EP uses famous synthesisers from the 80s and brings it to the present day italo revival.

Emmet Read is the Italo solo project from Producer Oliver Read. A decade producing and DJing in Bristol, he is no stranger in the field.

All in all this EP is designed to bring joy to dance floor.

So kam die Postmoderne über uns und machte aus vormals ehrbaren Kulturschaffenden Werksarbeiter, denen alle Schrauben abhanden gekommen schienen, im besten Fall. Mit minimaler Eigenleistung (nimmt man die unbeabsichtigten Fehler in der Produktion mal aus), aber bei maximaler Entgleisung entstand ein gänzlich neuer Berufszweig. Der grundsolide Werksarbeiter, mit Gema Anmeldung im Griff und guten Draht zu seinem Steuerberater. Um die quietschfidelen Arpeggio Terroristen soll es heute mal nicht gehen. Unsere Protagonisten dieser Geschichte sind andere. Wahnwitzige, Soziophobiker, Menschen mit gebrochenen Lebensläufen statt Joghurt im Rucksack, emsig agierende Mitstreiter mit Tupperdose in der Tasche für die Frühstückspause, willens den Kampf der letzten Kulturoffensive zu Ende zu bringen, samplen, pitchen, alles zerhacken und zu undefinierbaren Fetzen von Funk wieder zusammensetzen. Ausgeglichen vom Duft der Natur ankommend denFortschritt definieren wollen und den Strom in die Maschinen juckeln. Ästheten der Fehler waren geboren. Losgelöst vom Fließband. Hart & tief wird geackert geschwitzt, gebimmelt, der Filter aufgedreht, der Schmutz schaufelweise rangekarrt, bis die Stufe der Erlösung erreicht wird oder eben halt auch nicht. Das Leben ist nun mal kein einziger Orgasmus und der Funk entsteht in den Pausen wie die Befriedigung der Gier und der Besitz des Moments, weil das Leben ist doch nur ein Wimpernschlag und wir immer nur einen Abgrund entfernt von Weltekel oder Erlösung.

H&T01 A Soulphiction - Sky So High

We're massive fans of Bwana here at R$N Towers. Trust us, it's difficult to understate that. So when we heard that the Toronto-born producer (real name Nathan Micay) was starting a new vinyl-only label called Schvitz Edits, we leapt at the chance to premiere his take on another Canadian hero - folk singer Gordon Lightfoot, whose 1966 song 'Oh, Linda' provides the basis for Micay's absurdly titled 'Trance Pluckathon Remix'. Somehow, against all the odds, this heartbroken ballad's reincarnation as a slow burn early '90s trance anthem makes perfect sense.

Out 9th February, the first release on Schvitz Edits is also home to Micay's edit of Dr. John's 'I Walk On Guilded Splinters'. There will be two further 12"s arriving later this year - each of them focused on bringing classic non-dance music songs into a dancefloor context.

20 year dance music industry veteran John Noseda makes a standout debut on Agoria's Sapiens label with a new single featuring Surahn that very much shows off his subtly euphoric and truly emotional house sound. Adding to the essential package is a remix from disco icon Prins Thomas. 

Belgian born Noseda has been running clubs and events such as Kitsch Club, Club 69, WECANDANCE and more recently John The Club and Klub Dramatik Festival for many years. He recently branched out into production after decades of collecting records and DJing, and has a real analogue sound that is perfectly escapist. He has unconditional love for disco, Italo, EBM and house that always shows in his music. It has already been played at iconic clubs like DC10 and Berghain's Panoramabar, and here he works with Australian DFA, Sony and Future Classic artist Surahn to stunning effect. Surahn has played every major festival on the planet from Glastonbury to Coachella, topped the Billboard charts with his collaborative album with Usher and is a founding member of pioneering disco band The Swiss. Always pushing boundaries with his music, he is a world renowned talent who brings real class to this track. 'Our Time Will Come Again' is a deeply immersive house roller, with lush sunset chords and balearic keys that take you to the beach. The mood is melancholic and thoughtful, with gorgeous breakdowns and Surahn's spine tingling vocals adding another layer of emotion that makes a lasting impact. The dub version strips things back to the warm, rubbery beats and perfectly lazy grooves that encourage you to sink and allow your mind to wander. 

Then comes the dazzling remix from Prins Thomas that displays all the usual melodic magic and escapist grooves the world has come to expect from this Nordic icon. He is boss of his own Full Pupp label and deals in neo-disco, house-not-house and plenty in between. He is famously laid back but his sound is super luxurious and has very much defined an era.
This is a stunning new package once again from Sapiens.
