DJ Sonikku debuts on Distant Hawaii with three sparkling, island-hopping balearic house joints from the heart of a deep jungle-smattered paradise. 

Dreamed up from within the internet-scorched mind of Tony Donson, his DJ Sonikku alias sees him utilise Sega's heralded yet mildly-ancient 16-bit Megadrive console as a proto-MPC platform from which to assemble his tropical-tinged house sound. 

'Land Of Sky' bumps under sandalled foot with a tough-as-hell drum pattern that crunches and skitters below luminous, cloud-strewn synths; only punctured by a wild and hugely over-excited FM bassline. 

'On The Rocks' is a more laid back stroll across lackadaisical beach-scapes, hand stroking palms and gently diving into turtle inhabited waters. Pure lush tropical house with a tinker-toy Vancouver-inspired edge. 

Title track and closer 'Secret Island' is the vacation finale; a yearning, heart-warming trip through cloud city that really stretches the magical elements of Donson's sound into pure house-werk nostalgia.

Here's your discovery of the week and it's only Monday - let us introduce you to @discos-nutabe, a vinyl-only house label from Medellín, Colombia. Out next week, their fourth release is an amazing three-track 12" from Venezuelan artist @lee-on aka ELO, who's now based in Bogotá and a resident at the city's Video Club. His "rough on the edges" 'Visitante' EP finds the perfect intersection between techno, acid and house.

We're very happy to be premiering 'Trans', which starts off cruising under clear skies, but as it darts along reveals something of a seasick undercurrent, constantly adding new elements and building quite a head of steam. It's one of those slyly hypnotic tracks that'll reel you in without you even realising it - consider us truly hook, line and sinker'd.

House Music Is Disgusting

@mergelayers, the "strictly club music" label founded by Italian producers Natlek and Nobel, have kept things at a rolling boil this year with a steady stream of one-off digital singles from the likes of Rushmore and Circuit 900. Now, they're capping off 2018 with an EP from Chicago-via-Philly producer Neal Dexter aka @camerontraxxx. Having been a resident of the Windy City for a number of years now, Mr. Traxxx has fully embraced its musical DNA - hell, he even named his new EP 'Chicago'. Home to four jackin' originals and a remix from Welsh producer dJJ, it's a perfect distillation of his raw, in-yer-face production style. We're premiering 'Had Enuff', a stripped-down hardware jam with bags of personality that harks back to the glory days of Chicago house.
