Aerea Negrot offers up the ‘Pisco Sauer’ EP on Shaun J. Wright & Alinka’s Twirl imprint this February, accompanied by remixes from Honey Soundsystem’s Jason Kending and Shaun J. Wright himself.
The inimitable Aerea Negrot has grown to become a highly respected figure in the Berlin underground scene over the past few years. Originally hailing from Venezuala before relocating to the German capital, Negrot has regularly played at clubs such as Salon Zur Wilden Renate, Griessmuehle, about://blank, Suicide Circus and an appearance at Berghaun’s Panorama Bar in 2018 amongst releasing material on BPitch, Batty Bass and more.
Here though we see Aerea Negrot return to Twirl, following a remix of the label-heads’ ‘Need Someone’ back in 2015, with a new single in the shape of ‘Pisco Sauer’. The original mix leads and lays focus on dynamic, crunchy drums, heady resonant bleeps and murky bass arps at its core while soft pads and cinematic leads ebb and flow within.
Honey Soundsystem’s Jason Kendig steps on remix duties next, turning in a more refined take on things, extracting the soul of the original and reshaping it with a more direct groove-driven feel before Twirl co-founder Shaun J. Wright rounds out the package with his remix, opting for off-kilter electro drums and mind-bending analogue arpeggios whilst stirring in the elements of the original throughout.

To shine a light on artists in Mexico, Yu Yu, one of the most important venues in the capital, have teamed up with Mexico City-based label Infinite Machine to create a compilation, with a goal of raising funds to support artists who are part of the Yu Yu family. The 14 track release features the likes of Benfika, AAAA, Turning Toroso, Nico and Camila Fuchs and represents a shared imagination and unification of styles across the country.

They glimmered and flickered down below as he floated amidst the darkness. Up in the sky above Canary Wharf he gazed out upon a bittersweet city. That merry go round, it kept on spinning, endlessly turning in a cosmic blur which seemed as if it might never stop. This was London, a chaotic bubble in the midst of a dying kingdom, yet all of the lights kept shining brightly on. It were as if they'd been left on for him alone to wander upon the moonlit sky and reflect upon the place he'd once existed. That was it, it had to be. 

Calabashed are an assortment of musicians based out of London's Total Refreshment Centre. They are Maria Osuchowska, Donna Thompson, James Howard, Raimund Wong, Betamax  of The Comet is Coming, Joshua Idehen & Alabaster DePlume. Their music sits somewhere between jazz and electronica, touching upon elements of hip hop and underpinned by beautiful, cosmic poetry which deciphers experience and life in the city.

There is hardly anything one could say about the year 2020 that hasn’t been said already, and so we will only mention that despite all, it was music that kept us going, that held us together while we were apart, that lit our hope, that coloured our days. We now want to share some of that music with you – music from friends and Dom Trojga artists past, present and future. First comes SLG, doing dreamy funk like only he knows how on Pillowormhole. Selectress Charlie debuts on the label with the stunning minimal wave of Picky Picnic, followed by Hope, a utopian rave-not-rave anthem by Radar Crew legend Olivia. The ever-elusive jamaszka_FT offers a trippy uplifter on setup_promyczki, teasing a newly developed sound in anticipation of a full EP later this year, while our dear Evius has come up with one of the longer track names in recent history, so to even things out, we’ve stripped it back to the hypnotic essentials for a percapella take (look out for the full version on a later release, too). Finally, musical gardener Botanica brings the gorgeous Srebrne Lisy Uciekły(The Silver Foxes Have Fled) – an ambient house tune that will soothe and move hearts. For the artwork, Martyna Bolanowska has done it again and brilliantly, carving an unmistakable identity for the V/A series. Come stay with us at Dom Trojga.
