Florian Herzberg is the man behind My Secret Playground. When giving his 3-tracker-debut on JEAHMON! Records a headline we would choose this: "A Berlin Melange". Again and again Florian is drawn to his hometown Vienna. A city full of old glory and vanity, a spirit of optimism and standstill in the same way. On his new EP "NOSTALGIA", the now Berlin-based producer combines these opposites in three Electro and typical 1980s tracks. Rolling aggressive beats are replaced by broad synths and strings. Pounding kick drums paired with nostalgic vocal lines make the leap into the 21st century and give My Secret Playgrounds EP its own contemporary Indie Dance sound. A tale of paramount love for machines and the inextinguishable power of subjugation that lies in these button-studded boxes teeming with cabled bowels that feel so intimidating to the uninitiated, Italo Brutalo's longed-for debut album "Heartware" is a 12-track voyage across 25 years of intense synth collecting, fiddling, composing and endless loving for audio synthesis and the art of how robots make human bodies jack.

Throughout the twelve cuts that compose "Heartware", a feeling of retro-gazing, candidly playful glee prevails. Looking right in the eye of the era when dazzling flipper visuals and static-filled VHS glitches reigned supreme, Italo Brutalo invites us to witness first-hand his own textbook smorgasbord of fast-wheeling arpeggios and vocodized hoodoo ("Heartware", "Reach Horizon"), dystopian digital sunsets by the beach ("I Feel Lonely"), early hip-hop-informed whackin' n' thumpin' ("Analog Bars") and the slo but hard churn of a robot heist score ("Nobody Moves").

A lush tapestry of woozy exotic pads set in contrast with a deft and aggro drum programming ("As Above So Below"), followed by a new-beat oriented hammer-drop that shall leave no raver unscathed ("Heat of the Knight"), Italo Brutalo shifts the scope to radical effect whilst maintaining that cohesive headspace flush with the iconic 80s-to-90s-sourced assets. The hardware used in the making of "Heartware" is obviously the star here, and the inner sleeve pays tribute to that: the ideas behind the album have been there waiting to find their way out for over twenty years!

From adrenalin-boosting fractals of keyboard razzle-dazzle ("Chemical Element") to straight out pumping EBM primed for hi-octane mosh pits down the basement ("You Are Welcome"), via polyrhytmic percs-driven assaults and sizzling hot synth-smithery ("Into a Sampler"), the pressure levels never falter. Yet, Italo Brutalo sure knows how to weave further oneiric, softer narratives for your mind to frolic in unhindered ("Dream Machine") and rounds it all off with a total, space-opera'esque epic bound to have you spinning out of orbit into the great unknown ("Eternia"). 

"Heartware" is released in a neat double-vinyl gatefold package presenting the concept and machines involved in its making, including a twelve-page booklet featuring Italo Brutalo's key pieces of gear.

Sinchi Collective member Hary Shanthi serves up his second release on the not for profit Sinchi label with remixes from MR TC and Tushen Raï.

Hary Shanthi is a deeply earnest sound designer and a lifelong student who experiments with technology and believes in the "Management of Varied Frequencies." With this new release, he serves up an ode to his Indian culture that provides a glimpse into "the non-dualistic nature" of Kashmir Shaivism, a philosophical system that emerged in India around the 12th Century.

The fantastic 'Urumi' is his reconstruction of his first encounter with a monistic Shaiva saint and the transcendental percussive journey that followed. It is a truly magical nine-minute trip that layers up broken beats and drawn-out synth leads into a hypnotic electronic landscape. Breakdowns come alive with exotic percussion and subtle acid sounds while the bold bass never lets up to make for what will be an indelible dance floor impact.

First to remix is Glasgow's MR TC, who heads up Phase Group Records and has released on Optimo Music, while playing cult favourites like Panorama Bar and Dekmantel Selectors. His melon-twisting version is loose and freaky with scattered hand drums and eerily atmospheric grooves designed to keep dancers in a state of trance.

Hard Fist co-founder Tushen Raï is a notorious collector who plays everything from Turkish psychedelics to Romanian cold wave and tribal techno. His cross-cultural sounds come to the fore on his Anti War Mix, which is chugging, psyched-out tribal disco for smoky backrooms that like to get weird. The Dub he offers up is a cavernous one with plenty of cosmic FX, twisted leads and crisp drum patterns.

This is a cultured package of deeply moving sounds from Sinchi, with all sales donated to the Sinchi Foundation that supports indigenous peoples worldwide.

Mystery Kid definitely doesn't fit into any box. This dual-faceted DJ increasingly pushes the BPMs of Dark Disco, navigating amid muscular Italo, spaceship EBM, and mental percussive Techno.

After having visited major regional events such as the Made Festival (Rennes) and Astropolis (Brest), she also seduced the promoters of Printemps de Bourges (Bourges), We Love Green 2023 (Paris) and Les Déferlantes Sud de France (Le Bacarès).

Always eager to share, she now has her own show at Disco Suicide (Berlin) and is part of the Radio Vacarme Club (Brussels).
