With most DJ’s barely getting their teeth in to 2014 yet, Rotterdam based composer and producer Eelke Kleijn is already back teasing more huge tracks. Set for release on Feb. 24 on Eskimo Recordings are two brand new originals. ‘Lovely Sweet Divine’ is a slice of space disco heaven. This otherworldly tune is drenched in expansive reverb, disco rhythms and infectious arpeggiated basslines.

Typically brooding with an uplifting inflection, 'A Tale Of Two Lovers' is Eelke at the top of his game – only what we have come to expect from recent months. Combining fluid violins, hang drums and his typical bass rumble it’s a track from someone so adept at production they have the confidence and freedom to play around with styles in the 7-minute runtime.

It's obvious to see why Eelke is often referred to as a modern day composer. His two exclusive tracks 'The Voices' and 'Oranje Liefde' fit like bespoke gloves in the musical odyssey of his mix. Eelke's carefully crafted approach to composition and production really put him in a league of his own. Including 7 of his own productions seamlessly blended with hand selected creations from luminaries like Fritz Kalkbrenner, Gabriel Ananda, and Gregor Tresher, this mix will take you on an emotional journey of sound.

Tim Penner - Slideways Sessions 39 [Feb 4, 2016]

Seven years and five volumes of »Treats« down the line, Retreat flips the script in 2016 and introduces a brand new remix series (cheekily) entitled »Re-Treats«! With Nebraska, Session Victim and Quarion reworking stables from the RTR back catalogue, »Re-Treats Vol.1« is a brilliant showcase of the art of the remix as each artist comes up with a truly personal take on the original material.

RTR18 starts in high fashion with digger extraordinaire Nebraska tackling the label’s most famous track so far, »Good Intentions« from Session Victim. It’s merely impossible to rework a bonafide modern classic but the english producer manages this task with ease and stays close to the original by breaking down the main loop into a one bar groove with super crisp beats. This would already suffice as the core for a powerful track but the real action begins after a short break: Nebraska brings the original four bar loop back at the forefront while adding a wicked samba twist to it! And as the kick comes back in, you can help but dance with your arms in the air and a big smile on your face. The »Soho Samba Mix« is an irresistible tune with that unmistakable »London« flair, not to mention a proper dancefloor anthem in its own right!

Turn the record over for Session Victim’s take on »A & F« from Iron Curtis & Leaves. It will only take a few bars for you to feel that you’re in  for a special ride with the one and only »Two Man House Band« at the commands. Matthias’ and Hauke’s version of »A & F« is much more a cover than a traditional remix as SVM add percussion, layers of juicy synths, loose drum fills and quirky samples over the original chords  and vocals. There are shades of Jazz, Soul, Reggae and even a bit of Pop in the »612 Remix« but the vibe is 100 % Session Victim. The lads  really excel in sun-drenched grooves and this remix is bound to become another staple in their dynamic live set for this summer’s festival season.

If the previous two reworks manage to somewhat stay close to the original material, then Quarion’s version of »Black Cream« takes an alternative route and propels Session Victim’s track into another dimension. Constructed around a tough beat and an hypnotic synth, the  »White Smoke Remix« is thrusted by a powerful bassline and flying hi-hats that evolve in rapid succession. Parts of the original (a vocal  here, a guitar there) are being fragmented to molecular level and clash with each other at light speed, as if Quarion managed to run these elements through the CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. It’s a dense, yet fluid remix and a thrilling conclusion to this first volume of »Re-Treats«.

The Scandinavian climate was brisk and fierce. In the northern parts of Sweden there was little sound to be heard as they stared up towards the mountainside. A tiny hut could be seen in the distance, a light flickering from a small fire ablaze outside. This was to be the place, the only musical landmark amidst the outback of the north. Acid would play, acid nord. 

Here is the latest release in celebration of five years of Power Plant Records. The release sees the likes of La Fleur and Acid Mondays contribute but it is the Knutsson/Berg track which we have chosen to feature.

The crew had gathered amidst the sprawling estate. The smoke flourished high up above as it escaped from the heat of the grill. The smell of meat lingered in the air as the warm rays shone down upon them. Many beers would be drank this day, many memories shared. Music blasted from the boombox sat upon the grass. A barbeque skit played loud. 
Here is the latest EP to emerge from the Tartelet Records camp. It sees Kickflip Mike and Julius Conrad deliver a four track EP built for the summer.

Hush Hush

He lay awake, tossing, turning. His mind was a chaotic blur of wonder and imagination. Never in his wild wild dreams had he experienced such obsessive fascination and experimentation. His mind was no longer his own and he was caught somewhere between sleep and death. The world which he wandered through was exciting and new, bizarre and full of enchanting creativity. Endless possibility and opportunity existed all around this strange landscape. Nothing was the same. 
It is exciting to be able to reveal the Adesse Versions remix of Dj Duke's Pleasure Dome project. He steps up to deliver a fast paced cut with lush padded stabs.

The clouds parted and the sun shone through from the skies above. He looked to the heavens up above and waved his hands in joy, somewhere, way out there, he had been granted by salvation by the powers which lay beyond our wildest dreams. He would have to count his lucky stars and pray for forgiveness. He was blessed, and he would walk the earth again once more. Salvation had come.

Respected house producer Josh Butler is back, armed with his brand new ‘Link’ EP on Edwin Oosterwal and Joris Voorn’s legendary Rejected imprint. The EP once again proves Josh’s ability to continuously deliver the kind of high quality tech-house that has entrenched him as an integral figure in the underground UK house scene.

The title track ‘Link’ stays true to Butler’s less-is-more philosophy while also showcasing his incredible sound-design and production know-how. The percussion takes centre stage as Josh brings in conga rolls, a soulful vocal refrain and lush, atmospheric pads to contribute to an inimitable groove. Two distinct mixes of the track, a melodic mix and a dub mix, are generously provided on the EP and both demonstrate the intricacies inherent in Josh’s production.

Rounding off the release is ‘Need Me’, the EP’s deeper venture that combines minimalist instrumentation centred around a grooving bassline, subtly making itself known above the driving percussion. Throughout the EP, Josh succeeds in delivering vast symphonic landscapes within the pretext of measured and characteristic instrumental restraint. Partygoers can expect to hear both sides of the EP receive serious airtime across the club circuit as the Ibiza season kicks into full swing this month.

After exceptional releases on much-respected imprints like Dixon’s Innervisions, Drumpoet Community and Mood Music, Berlin-based artist duo FRANKEY & SANDRINO brings their sophisticated, deep house sound to Kompakt with the HYDRAE EP – three new and highly versatile tracks that prove once more the perfect symbiosis of Frank Beckers’ technical know-how and Sandrino Tittel’s selector expertise from his days as resident DJ at Wuppertal’s famed Butan Club. Both the title cut HYDRAE and b-side buster IZAR feature the expressive, silky synth solos we’ve come to love from the two soundsmiths, embedded in the focussed throbbing of their precision beats. Frankey & Sandrino - Hydrae - Snippet

The globe lay unfurled on paper before them as they stared. The deep blue sea swamped the majority whilst pockets of land sat scattered here and there amidst their line of sight. They had been sailing for some time now, battling the wind the current would bring them homeward bound, at least thats what they hoped. It had to be, surely, for the atlas, it told them so. 
Days of Being Wild are about to release a new EP from daWad & Mokic. The release features three tracks from the pair alongside a remix from Sid Le Rock.
