yet is a slippery word in English. Amorphous, these three letters in different contexts can define contrast or emphasis, set a place in time, show an expectation that something will occur or, paradoxically, that it is likely to stop. 

It is this mercurial nature that makes yet the perfect title for Tresor's latest compilation: the label follows on from the more explorative sections of 2021's landmark Tresor 30 boxed set with a compilation, featuring 13 artists making music that resists easy definition. 

Every track hints at and borrows from the familiar yet none follow the expected path: halfway through Deserto, Nandele &amp; A-Tweed dramatically reveal a very different sonic landscape that was initially suggested; DJ Sotofett collaborates with Sri Lankan artist Kavadi with results that are unlike anything in the Norwegian producer's catalogue as yet. 

Further invention can be found as Jean Redondo's Hypersonic moves across spaces inhabited by digital hardcore and hyperpop before swerving off-road and into a futuristic hip-hop section; on No Longer Human, Ireen Amnes takes a different path at the crossroads melding hyperpop, trance, and sci-fi soundtrack atmospherics, Significant Other heads towards UK Bass and Dubstep, and France's Willis Anne skims by the outskirts of footwork with a piece that is almost completely uncategorisable.

Yet more sonic experimentation comes from E-Saggila, Nadia Struiwigh, NVST, Solid Blake, and Viikatory who offer unique takes on the well-established electro blueprint, while Ryan James Ford, and Nit. both find ways to blend elements normally found in ambient pieces with those heard on a dancefloor.

The feel of the compilation is yet again reflected in the enigmatic artwork by Malik Arbab, where shapes and colours suggest animals and plants but in a world that appears to be transient and constantly evolving.

The committee “Justice pour Sourour” and the Pacifique Records music platform is launching a series of compilations to raise awareness on the fight against police violence and collect funds to ensure justice for Sourour: beloved sister, mother, daughter, and friend, who died in a police station in Brussels on January 12, 2023. For this first volume we’re bringing together friends and allies: artists of the experimental and bass music scene, each presenting a track.   The fight we’re waging is relentless, we need to keep everyone’s attention so that the struggle doesn’t lose momentum, so that even more people feel concerned and join us, and so that similar violence can never happen again. We want to believe in a united, supportive and politicised music scene. As artists, musicians and cultural actors, and with your support, we can play a precious role in this fight.

Premiere: Fergus Sweetland "Pseudo V2" (Vil Club Mix) - HAYES

Patiently stood on the side of the street awaiting pickup, bags and boxes fluttered in the wind like the nerves tingling in their stomach. The van pulls up and the chariot awaits. 2009 Ford transit, alloy wheels and the smell of old Amber Leaf. Fill it to the brim with everything you own, with the ambition that a change of scenery will create success. An intense journey lay ahead, packed full of commercial radio and drive-thru stops but they'd eventually reach their new-found haven.

The next output from Lithuanian label Le Temps Perdu welcomes the return of Multi Culti’s co-captain Dreems. Sticking to the aquatic themes that he’s become synonymous with, his newest body of work Shark Water explores his previous career paths as a deep sea commander and dolphin communicator. The standout track ‘The Dolphin Communion’ delicately marries the spoken words of highly respected marine scientist John Sea Lilly with enticing grooves, diaphanous chords and punchy minimalistic drums.

Scientific Dreamz Of U debuts on Pinkman's Broken Dreams white label series. Merging elements of punk-tinged industrial and atmospheric mutant techno, "Self Assembly Of Myriad Heterostructures" spins the listener into a swarming vortex, where a blistering array of harsh tones oscillate between deteriorating vocals. On the flip, the record includes a remix by Pinkman favorite Mick Wills and a forward driving Dance Mix. Limited to 100 copies, for the true night-wanderers out there.

After notching up releases with the likes of brokntoys, Rotterdam Electronix and OMO Recordings, Czech producer Exhausted Modern returns to his own Endless Illusion imprint for the second time to release his debut album, The Year Of The Rat. Not claiming to have all the answers, but offering his perspective on these modern times, across the LP Exhausted Modern comments on the broken mechanics of society, capitalistic hierarchisation and the emotional frustration of those who fall victim to it.
