Munich-based platform Alternative Fakten are dedicated to putting the city's underground music and arts scene on the map, be that through club nights, live shows, panel talks, art exhibitions, or releases — like the one we've got for you right here. Like their first label outing, the second is another compilation celebrating artists within the city, though this time, they highlight a wealth of contemporary electronic producers who are operating in the spaces between the city's artworld, activist groups and club culture, including Fuel Moon, WLAN and label bosses Tom Zwotausend & Bartoszek.

Zauberstab Volume 1 is a compilation of electronic bedroom music made by contemporary artists that belong to similar sonic spheres, to be released in LIO Press, a new label based in Barcelona founded by Alicia Carrera. The A side feels like a holiday in an exotic landscape; the kind of place you don't want to leave. The B side then goes in a slightly deeper meditative direction, but not too far, since the sparking disco-infused psych exploration of 'Space Surfari' will hold you back from falling into the void of the unconscious. What comes next is the sound that would welcome a moonlit night sky. The C side slinks into a minimal synth oriented exploration, ending with the intergalactic hopeful drift of 'Har'. The last side will provide a comfortable seat on this hypnotic journey. 'Ete 2017' is an ode to the late summer nights, a mind-driving loop carried by gentle percussive sounds, filled with some bass deepness. The next tracks are the the right balance between a hug and a breeze of fresh air for your mind and soul. At this point you might find yourself wondering if it's a good idea to open your eyes or just keep them closed for a bit longer and thoroughly enjoy all of the details of this story. But, why not? This one is, after all, a record to build beautiful memories with.

This place played tricks on you, you had everywhere to run and everywhere to hide, but freedom was not yours — it was slipping away quicker than ever.

Cosmic Pint Glass have been working hard to put Norwich on the electronic music map with their parties and label. Since launching back in 2015 they've shared music from Ruf Dug, Marc Du Mosch, Toby Tobias and many more, and now they're welcoming back the group who helped launch the imprint nearly four years ago: Jack Pattern. Their follow up EP, 'Kosmische Kueche', is made up of three original cuts that range from industrial slow burners to mutant trip hop, backed up by remixes from Wax Stag and Dane Close.

The third LAYER in our Lithuanian December special series comes from a dear friend with one foot in gentle atmospheres, the other in crooked down-tempo, and both arms digging hard for twisted dance. That last side he decided to showcase in his mix for WPD. 

If you know of Opium club's Smala nights through their recordings or staggering posters by Floating Bastard, then you know about Marijus Klimaitis.

The leftfield-loving Lithuanian started collecting music as a kid. Soon after moving to Vilnius, when Electroclash anthems ruled the Earth, Marijus ran the small Stereo 45 club, where he cut his craft and decided to embark on a DJ's journey.

Now, some years later, you know him as one half of 12 INČŲ PO ŽEME, the DJ duo he steers with Simas Slabačiauskas. The two operated the Smala nights in collaboration with another Vilnius nightlife staple, Manfredas. With their remix for Maar Bullet and a self-released mixtape, the duo started showing interest in entering producer waters.

This year, Marijus started sharing his uncanny favorites with audiences across the globe through the Per Amzius Ambient show on Radio Vilnius. From folk and jazz leftovers from the long-forgotten times, via the gloomy picks from the end of the century to contemporary sedated beats.

When Laura (Ondula) makes jokes out of my kind of extravagant elegance, or about her elaborated saturday-night hair-style, she says that’s “macadam mambo”! When I first listened to her saying this I found it very appropriate.

Sacha Mambo, the man who together with Guillaume des Bois, started the notorious label Macadam Mambo, has been one of Diapason highlights. During the past years Sacha and me were part of the same international underground party scene and ended up putting out a couple of my most known releases, which preluded to the most recent EP “That’s when the Animals turned into humans” made with Laura under the name As Longitude and featuring Twoonky and Paul Arambula. If I remember well, Laura, Sacha and me made the agreement exactly in mid July 2018, in Berlin, just before the night at Sameheads began.

The recent lockdown forced Sameheads to cancel our latest two episodes. Shifting to this hidden virtuality, we want to keep the tradition alive and have reached out to some of our past guests and assembled a Diapason Compilation Tape Vol. 1 featuring new music from some of the artists who inspired us.
