She was swimming deep beneath the surface of the water, her hands touched the glimmering white tiles at the bottom of the pool as she held her breath. There was not a single sound to be heard under the depths. It was distinctively silent and pleasantly peaceful. She was holding on to her breath with a delicate sense of ease. She had been a swimmer for many years but she had never known serenity like this.

Ashley Stevenson (FKA Arthur Jnr) debuted his new project, The Last Trip To Gandahar, with a groover by the name of “R136a1”(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R136a1) on City Fly Records’ (which he co-runs with his pals Jonna, J’Shez and Darran P) In House EP earlier this year. The move sees the Leicester, UK-based producer taking a cool, MPC-laced dip into the realm of disco and soul-sampling house music.   

The Last Trip To Gandahar’s upcoming debut EP, Echoes of Paradise, is set to drop on new Washington, DC-based vinyl imprint Better Listen Records in November 2016. The four track release is chock-full of jazz funk and disco soul aesthetics and serves as a sweet taster for what’s to come from the producer. Expect nothing less than disco paradise when taking a trip to Gandahar. Oh, and be on the lookout for his follow-up releases on Kolour LTD and homebase City Fly, which are due out in the near future.
