Дeva is a fully DIY solo project by the 20 year old Budapest based musician, Dorina Takács. Music has always played a major role in her life (choirs, bands, and musicals) but she felt it’s time to take matters in her own hands and do everything on her own. She writes and produces her own tracks, and also sings and designs her artworks. Her features are atmospheric smooth sounds, pulsating bass lines and polyphonic mantras inspired by magical Hungarian folk songs. Her solo project aims to knock down barriers between different genres of music and make our spirits soar.

Deva's new single ‘Witchcraft’ is about finding love. The song was inspired by a Hungarian folk song that says: “My garden is full of sage and love”. According to the song love is not only a fusion of two paths but also a pact with nature and a connection with our inner self. The monotony of the groove, the smooth rhythms of congas and the traditional Hungarian melodies give us a warm feeling that takes us to a sacred land. András Ladocsi directed a beautiful video for the song with seven dancers in a derelict building from the socialist era.

Just after releasing 'Solidify' on Le Temps Perdu, STATUE (Tom Gould) has become a cornerstone of this years, 'Summer Riot VIII' compilation commissioned by purveyors of good groove, Futureboogie. 'Ivory' is a shining collage of live percussive work and ‘hands in the air’ piano and organ motifs, driven by its steady house rhythm. 

Futureboogie's eighth annual Summer Riot compilation EP is an eclectic gathering of producers and tracks that fittingly encapsulate the current balmy vibes and a summer load of festivals and parties already behind us.

Secret Factory return to their own label with another fresh underground house offering that includes remixes from TERR and MAN2.0. This Hungarian pair is legendary in their homeland having put on Secret Fusion parties there for the last 20 years. Since 2019 they have established their label of the same name with the sort of sounds they play in their tasteful yet experimental house, disco and techno sets. Their first original is ‘Hashen Tashen’, a brilliantly melodic track with rich xylophones and rubbery drums getting you on your toes. Cosmic pads add future vibes and the whole thing is stylishly slick and serene.
First to remix is Brazilian-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer Terr who is making waves on labels like Phantasy Sounds. Her version is an intense affair with driving drums and lasers shooting across the face. It has ping-pong melodies and frazzled synth lasers that all bring raw energy. Then comes London’s MAN2.0, a man who takes cues from 80's synth, EBM and “toy instruments from charity shops” amongst other things. Andrew Weatherall is a fan and will likely appreciate the macho twisted disco of this twisted chugger.
The final hurrah is Secret Factory’s ‘No Garbage Please’, a breezy cosmic house cut with more meticulous melodies and pads. Well treated vocals are another subtlety that ensures this is further winning effort.
This third release yet again proves Secret Fusion is a label as vital as the party it came from.

Tendts have been traversing the galaxy for over eight years now and from their first release “Slow Years” back in 2012 for Lower Parts (GR), up to “Cosmic Swimmer” for Public Release (US) they search and embrace the music of the worlds they visit.

Informed by seemingly incongruous references the now three piece band (joined by Elias Smilios, a very close friend of theirs, over a year ago) started playing live shows and jamming together experimenting with sounds but mostly trying to capture the essence and purity of Cosmic Swimmer’s energy they previously discovered to be true. Thus what some have called “a Pleiadian Power Trio” was born and “Faith” their second LP was fabricated.

“Faith” forged between the bands’ jamming sessions and live shows flows effortlessly between the intimacy of a studio jam and the energy of a live show. Celebrating their first release on their own imprint, label & collective T.A.F. Recordings right from the start with the opening track ‘Rave Not Destroy’, reminiscent of an old electro track with broken drum patterns laid on top, it is clear that this record wants to intrigue us. The journey has just begun. ‘Faith’ the title track comes next to set the mood. Walking between the lines of obscure disco and cosmic euphoria as we witness the journey from losing faith to enlightenment. ‚Golden Hands Sunset‘ is more like a sun-laden exercise of some sort, acid basslines, synths in conversation with guitars and a steady drum pattern with few surprises. Closing Side A the energy escalates even more with ‘Omega’ a certified club anthem with heavy guitars, hard drums and playful synths that is bound to free you from the bodily prison you live in, or at least make you bounce like you’ve never bounced before.

Side B begins with ‘Spirit’ a slow moving electronica piece. Confession of an out of body experience? It’s up to you if you want to believe or not. Continuing on with ‘Yamblin’ the banger of this side. Infused with psychedelic guitars, African rhythms and driven by a rave mentality is like an elegy for the dancers. The closing track of the LP is ‘Body Muscle’, a moody jam in which three sets of instruments form a lan- guage, and start conversing until they come to a closure.

Finding your way from an Amazonian Jungle to the clubs in Miami in the early 80s, “Deuce” dials the club from space, gets us in the side entrance with a classy retrograde hook on the synth lead. “Dissonance” Dramatic pitched lead steps towards the open gate of the neon and grey evening garden party at a grand Duke’s estate, just getting round with the hors d’oeuvres and aperitifs. You see the love of your life, talking with your arch enemy.
Remixes:
Joone has come with a breakbeat, flipping 70s synth stabs turn it into something serious now. Especially with that pulsing bass line and tom fills, pushing the original hook back into the party. Great chill sessions remix.
