Our next release is a family affair involving two artists who previously released on Samo Records. Tassilo Vanhöfen, who was featured on our “Sphere” compilation, delivers a hypnotic EP with three of his signature low-tempo/trance-y tracks, perfectly matching the vibe of these strange times. 
“Laterna Magica'' gets reworked by Itako, whose “Standards” EP came out on Samo last year; the result is a sped-up version that will haunt you for days.

Owner of a sonority that combines Techno with shards of EBM, Industrial, and Post-Punk plus a pinch of Latinity, Mverto Futura’s output has definitely a strong character and a fierce attitude. After appearing on some of the most important labels amid the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene such as Veneno, Controlla, Oberwave, Quixotical, and Dogs & Vultures, to name a few, the Guatemalan producer makes his debut on another powerhouse of the dark genres: Richmerch opens its doors for his “Enajenado”, a powerful EP featuring three creative originals and one spicy remix by Undefined Pattern (SXDNS197).

The remix, premiered here, by the way, brings Mr. UP boldly stripping off a pretty good deal of the Rock & percussive atmosphere of the original and replacing it with a sort of Oriental/Middle East aura. The bouncing beats and the melodic synth layer set the mood of a more fast-paced and frenzied version.

A flock of birds took flight across the sky, dipping and weaving in unison until they were out of sight beyond the cliffs. The terrain was bold and colourful; huge towering green trees shot up into the heavens, below a flowing stream of clear blue water meandered through various species of flowers and chattering insects. The sheer expanse of this landscape took his breath away, it was a far cry from the cityscapes he knew so well. It remained untouched by human hands, not tampered with for commercial gain - here nature was in charge. 

Up next on non-profit label Sinchi it's a close member of the collective's family, Hary Shanthi. Marking his second release on the label, following 2021's Sivapuranam (​ச​ி​வ​ப​ு​ர​ா​ண​ம​்​), this new single 'Urumi' is another window into the psyche of a deep thinking, technically skilled producer. The slowly unfurling opus, which is peppered with hypnotic acid lines, synth leads and percussion is a homage to his Indian culture and '"the non-dualistic nature" of Kashmir Shaivism, a philosophical system that emerged in India around the 12th Century'. It comes complete with remixes from MR TC and Tushen Raï and, as always, all money from sales will be donated to the Sinchi Foundation which supports indigenous people across the world.

Sunexplosion dives into a more melodic and dreamlike corner of Progressive House with Phantom | Starcore | Gimmick — a deep and emotional three-track release. The title track Phantom is a collaboration between Slovak producer Allex and rising Russian talent Flaist. Flaist brings a cinematic, ambient-influenced edge, while Allex delivers his signature precision and drive. Both artists create a lush, layered opener full of melodic depth. Starcore and Gimmick follow as solo productions by Allex, offering rich textures, subtle rhythmic development, and a more introspective mood. This release marks a shift toward softer, more emotional territories — while still rooted in the underground Progressive sound the label stands for.

Based in St. Petersburg, Nocow is undoubtedly one of Russian electronic music’s most remarkable protagonists having released on Clone, Figure, Fauxpas Musik, Gost Zvuk and Styrax. Recognised for maintaining consistency whilst traversing various sub-genres, Nocow is as comfortable producing intricate IDM and robust techno as he is calm ambient and melancholic electronica.

In ‘Soul Connection’ a spoken word vocal mutters over metallic percussion and ominous stabs whilst a dense pad washes over everything. An undulating synth and ethereal effects make up ‘Disappear’ before moving onto syncopated drums and shadowy atmospherics in ‘Samaya Dolgaya Noch’. Next up, ‘Stop’ is comprised of mesmerising melodies, sturdy kicks and a looped vox until Nocow concludes the package with a short 2-step cut titled ‘Aesthetic Mind’.

While energizing and infectious, DJ Hell goes for a still relatively stripped back remix of 'Riot Revolte', with simple drums, a warm bassline, and flashes of trippy eerie noises- perfect for taking the dancefloor into frenzy realms. Although Agents Of Time have been a staple on many club and festival lineups over the years, Fidele proves he can stand on his own with his EP 'No Mercy For Beginners', which is available February 14th.

Phil Peskett and Jamie Tolley aka Blavatsky & Tolley are about to release their first track on their record label – the track is River Inside, the label is Evil Plans records. The release date is 9 October, presale on 18 September 2020. 

This is not an ordinary artist collaboration, these guys have history – as close as brothers.

Jamie was first introduced to Phil in the early 90s, at the time Jamie held a residency at Club UK and Phil was firmly placed on the band circuit, but it was electronic music that brought them together. Via a group of mutual friends, Jamie first encountered Phil in a South East London loft studio, this was Phil’s loft and the start of a beautiful friendship. According to Jamie, Phil was a ‘larger than life’ character and the pair instantly bonded. Hanging out and enjoying music together became a regular pastime. Jamie loved Phil’s style, but at the time they were experimenting with sound and did not even think to release anything.

Fast forward three decades, and Blavatsky & Tolley are on it. Phil’s blues/rock band have separated, Jamie’s weekly electronic music radio show is established with a regular following and the time is right – everything happens for a reason. Phil got back the taste for electronic music, he always loved what Jamie played on the show and became inspired to collaborate and create with him. Over the New Year from 2019/2020 the guys spent nearly three days straight in the studio, the music flowed and River Inside was born. 

In terms of what the tracks means to him, in Jamie’s own words – ‘River Inside, it’s a journey … a twister of a tune. I’m a river inside, that’s how you feel when you’re on the dancefloor where nothing else matters as the music runs through you. It’s a great feeling and that is a river inside you.’ 

Phil’s musical background as a vocalist and harmonicist combined with Jamie’s nous for electronic music and exposure to constantly new material from showcasing international artists on a weekly basis makes for creative brilliance – Blavatsky & Tolley.

The initial plan for the label Evil Plans records was to debut and release Blavatsky & Tolley’s music, but knowing these guys this is just the beginning of something truly mind-blowing, and much bigger than that. River Inside comes with two fantastic remixes by Al Mackenzie’s Retroforward and BTCOP, two completely different takes and equally as breath-taking as the original. Rich Lane from Cotton Bud did a superb job on the mastering of all three – a great collaborative effort on this super EP. This has been a long time coming, watch this space …
