Pressure is the third EP from Parisian DJ and producer BJF (@djbjf). It follows Iridescent and Uprooted, released in 2020 and 2022. A key member of the collective, label, and media Couvre x Chefs, BJF has released original tracks on several record labels (Lowup, Egregore, XXIII, Sacrilejio Records, Météo ) and a bunch of thoughtful edits. His productions have been played on Boiler Room, NTS, Rinse FM, Rinse France, Hör, BBC, Reprezent, etc.

Just months after the acclaimed Uprooted, BJF is back on the label arm of Couvre x Chefs with an explosive three-track EP ready to sweat clubs and shake festivals. Entitled Pressure, this one reinforces the style of BJF which he refines release after release: resolutely club percussive titles, punctuated with characteristic ad-libs, increasingly (re)worked vocals, and sharp melodies. On the percussion side, the producer from Greater Paris finely selects cuts with precision and reassembles to the millimeter the most boiling rhythms from the four corners of the planet. The result is by nature unclassifiable - post club, hybrid club, or global club - but promises to make everyone agree on the dancefloors of Melbourne to Saõ Paulo via Paris or Berlin.

Jahla - Too Fast - (PA MELE RIDDIM)

When Void+1 intercepted intel of Znzl, an entity with green hair whose appearance has been linked to mysterious earthquakes, it immediately dispatched for "recruitment". After losing 2 ground units during the operation, V+1 resolved to diplomacy and managed to negotiate a deal code-named "Ancestraldatabreach", that contents of will not be disclosed to the public, other than 4 tracks that emerged as a consequence of the process.
"Significant Bound" is the result of Znzl's experimentation with new production techniques. A breakbeat/techno hybrid that might have a mind of its own, seemingly capable of some form of speech in particular segments of the track.
"Obfuscate" is a minimalist tool-track that hides it's underbelly of bass between razor sharp kicks while occasionally glittering in the darkness.
As if Znzl alone wasn't overpowered enough, he calls upon Radical Softness for assistance on vocals in "Alignment" and together they successfully convey the script of a cyborg going to an energy healer for alignment of its chakras (foreshadowing alert.exe).
The contract concludes with "As The Fire Consumes Us", evoking images of silhouettes being projected on concrete walls as they dance around the bonfire.

We remember over a year ago the latest installment of Crysta Ampullaris, bringing together a host of guests from all corners of the country to offer us an eclectic opus, where stylistic boundaries were shattered to give prominence to sound design and a post-covid club vision unique to each individual. While it goes without saying that we thrive on sharing, we must also know how to refocus on the essentials, and it is through reflection on a common aesthetic that this new volume was born.

“Tribe.” A marginal musical style, long nestled in the free party culture, now seems to infuse into the most mental and fast-paced forms of electronic music. We wanted to take a look at our own roots, in the muddy grounds of our regional soundsystems, where everyone is invited to uncompromising sonic journeys. It is where nature, humans and technology come together in a joyful celebration of inner and outer life. The familiar faces from previous volumes are present: Nigm, Slowglide and Ayuji deliver three energetic and shamanic tracks, exploring fast grooves, hypnotic patterns and twisted landscapes. New faces also make their appearance, such as Numa, a founding member of the collective, presenting a generously psychedelic and textured debut track. Additionally, Perdu et Retrouvé from Venus Club introduces a superb dreamy and tribal collaboration with Shonen Bat.

As you can see, this new volume is an invitation to travel, to move and to connect ; as moving and being moved is our mantra.

There were a number of memories of which he felt to be missing, one day he hoped that they might return. There were faces and shadows which he could not recall, places he was sure he had been but could not place and moments in time he was not sure had been his.

He wanted to believe and know them all, as if he'd known them to be true and real all along. He wanted to feel the way in which they'd felt - that rush of whimsical nostalgic energy which left him longing to go back.

It seemed as though it was at the very edge of his fingertips - just out of reach. Out there in the great beyond.

We are thrilled to bring you a fresh plate from Peter Simon, better known to the world of bass music as DJ Madd. Respected worldwide for his infectious brand of roots/reggae-heavy dubstep and dubwise that spans the tempo spectrum from dancehall to jungle, he has released on crucial bass-centric labels such as Moonshine, Black Box, the legendary WAR series of white labels, his own Roots & Future imprint, and most recently the excellent Cosmic Bridge. DJ Madd is regularly featured on Rinse FM and BBC Radio, and has been championed by influential DJs from Mary Anne Hobbs to Skream and Breakage.

DJ Madd’s second ZamZam journey moves on from the dark militancy of his first 7”, for a still-heavy but more meditative affair, again showcasing his mastery of space, dynamics and bass-weight in the service of classic dub principles.  While recent outings have seen him pushing into 160bpm ‘slowfast' territory, both tunes here hold it down for the 130-140 massive.  “Interstellar Dub” sets the controls for a warm nebula of sound, beginning with a gorgeous synth melody.  The interplay of spacious reverbs and ricocheting percussion, a worming keyboard line, skanks, majestic horns and massive low end are mesmerizing - familiar in their simplicity and structure, but fresh in their clarity and system-pushing confidence.  Simon takes us into a cosmic realm that is not a hostile void but an inviting home.

“Spook Dub” is a haunted tune with a sonic palette linked to the A side, a darkly playful house of dread smoke and mirrors. DJ Madd’s restraint and frequency control are on full display here, as well as his intuitive sense of what makes a great sound system tune. Heavy and crowd-pleasing wares for DJs, dancers, and eyes-downs worldwide.
