TB Premiere: Mancini - Momentum [hedZup records]

The interesting U’re Guay Records brings to life its Vol. 39 presenting Addi de la Cruz aka Umvral (FREEDL018/046), owner of the dangerous and lethal Mexican label Veneno. Hailing from Mexico City, Umvral has been steadily developing quite a solid work as A&R, DJ, and producer, having achieved both local and international recognition not only because of his undeniable talent but also charisma and competence. His works have already appeared on some of the most respected imprints of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene such as Bonkers, Controlla, Logia, Emerald & Doreen, Quixotical, and his very own Veneno, for instance.

For his debut on the Montevideo-based platform, Addi decided to explore his Trance and Techno influences delivering two fat & smelly peak-time originals. On the remixes duties, Aleito, Cu Da Curuxa, and Parallel (SXDNS319) brought their own traits to the party.

Premiered here, “Viva La Trance” is definitely that kind of track that is devoted to wreaking havoc on the dance floor. Its acid and frenzied atmosphere is mainly established by throbbing and nervous synth layers topped with bleepy and playful laser-like sound effects. Yes, the 134-BPM pace helps a lot to set the mood!

Black Light Smoke returns to his Death Decay Magic imprint alongside Léah Lazonick for ‘Work’, backed by remixes from Happy707 and Dina Summer.
A Chicago native now based in New York, Jordan Lieb, aka Black Light Smoke, is an artist who wears many stripes within the realms electronic music. A DJ, producer, songwriter and composer, the diverse talent has also added the title of label boss to his resumé in recent years having founded his imprint, Death Decay Magic. Launched in 2020, releasing material spanning techno, EBM, electro and beyond, the label has welcomed releases and remixes from artists such as Cardopusher, The Hacker and MAN 2.0, to name just a few. Returning for his second EP on the label, mid-June sees Lieb partner alongside Brooklyn-based vocalist and producer Léah Lazonick for ‘Work’, accompanied by remixes from Argentinian duo Happy707 and trio Dina Summer - a collective made up of Kalipo and Local Suicide. From the first drops of French Touch to the explorations of Midwest Rave, Queens-born, Chicago based producer & DJ Aguila molds their influences into a liquid groove.

With humble beginnings during their sophomore year of high school, Lázaro Aguilar quitely learned their trade of production and running raves at an early age. With a string of self-releases, they quickly turned heads in the international scene with the support & mentorship of well-respected DJs. Following a brief stint with cancer, Lázaro brushed up on their engineering skills and headed for Chicago to fully immerse themselves in the city's nightlife.

It was while interning at Chicago's very own smartbar where they continued to develop their knack for running undergrounds. Helping co-found and run Support System Sound, a series of loft parties built on the ethos of Midwest Rave & David Mancuso's legendary Loft, they honed their crafts as a DJ during longform sets. As a collective, Support System lasted from 2017–2019, ending in a 34 hour loft party with over 30+ artists.

Not shying away from production duties, Lázaro continued to self-release under their new label The People's Bureau of Ignorance. Catching the ear of Lobster Theremin's Jimmy Asquith, they released 2019's trance-tinged smash, The Club On 27th West, paying homage to New York's Twilo. With recent releases on Seb Wildblood's all my thoughts & Holly Lester's Duality Trax, Lázaro seeks to build upon the legacy of Midwestern Dance Music.

Introducing the next installment (tenth 12"), the new project from the label owners: Marcos López and Ricard de Dios. Also known as Anbau, they've started this new project focused on darker influences.

The record debut contains four tracks that aim to reflect some of their influences from the past till the present time, such as Front 242, Ural 13 Diktators, Gesloten Cirkel, or Gamma Intel.

Mastered as always by Alden Tyrell, distributed by Bordello a Parigi, and cover art by Groovycosta. Release date on June 16th, this is a 300 copy vinyl edition, digital format also available through Bandcamp.

The room was crowded, it was set to be a warm evening and as he stood outside the doors he began to shake with nerves as the sound echoed and danced down the corridor. It had been a long time since he'd last been here, for so long this realm had seemed beyond his kind.
