Refraction of Light encompasses a swarm of sonic apparitions from 17 geographically linked artists. The compilation glides through an array of mesmerizing sounds; from slithering trance and crystalline techno to surrealistic DnB and entrancing electronica. A vast collection of moods spanning dawn to dusk.

The HgB capsule emerges on Amniote Editions on 23rd June. The artwork is designed by Camilla Louisa.

Amniote Editions acknowledges this EP was put together on the land of the Woiwurrung & Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land and pay our respects to their elders past, and present. Sovereignty was never ceded.

The nearly 40 minute vinyl + bonus digital tracks crawl under the listener’s skin with its deceptively simple hypnotic rhythms. 
This carefully crafted LP unveils its complexities by spreading into every cell of the timbres and sequences within, fusing elements ranging from minimal techno, old-school Goa Trance and late 80’s/early 90’s EBM. “Dysfunctionalism” can best be described as a kind of Hypnotic Body Music. The vinyl also includes an edit by SARIN plus 2 bonus digital tracks.

Berlin-based label and queer collective Herrensauna return with the third installment of their compilation series which laid the foundation for the record label in 2020 as its first release. This time Herrensauna Vol. 3 ties in with the 9th anniversary of the collective. A celebration of longevity and its global impact, Herrensauna has become one of the most esteemed spaces in Berlin’s queer underground. The international reach of Herrensauna is evident throughout the latest compilation as it unites artists from Japan, USA, the Netherlands, France, and of course their spiritual home, Berlin.

Bridging together experimental club soundscapes, Herrensauna Vol. 3 is a confident stamp of where the label sees itself at the moment and the world it exists in, featuring artists they admire and friends of the collective. From the dreamy and ethereal melodies of Cora, Sepehr and Roza Terenzi to the wonked-out leftfield club anthems of De Grandi, Animistic Beliefs, 3Ddancer, Galaxian, R325 whilst rounding off the release with bass mutations from Fetus, truthspeaker, T5UMUT5UMU and Sexapil.

It has been two years since the first compilation on the Various Artists series (PEVA) of Pi Electronics and the concept has stayed true to its aim: to present a coherent selection of the label’s favourite collaborators from the roster and parties over the years. Bringing together Greek and international artists, this compilation opens with a 10 minute recording by the combined forces of Orphx and JK Flesh (Justin Broadrick), from a live performance recorded in Amsterdam. Meanwhile we also showcase the resurfacing of Vofa, the joint project of producers Sawf and ANFS. There is a variety of options in this 13 tracks release; from the raw and harsh textures of An-i and New Frames, to Lycurgus live drum set recordings, Kondaktor’s African percussive electronics and Sarin’s EBM infused techno. Some more techno interpretations, such as the hypnotic moods of Stave and Fragedis, or the more punchy sounds of Restive Plaggona and Poison Green. These shape the full picture of this second Pi Electronics compilation titled ‘Divide & Rule’.

The basement was off limits, it had been for as long as her elders had owned the house. No questions were ever asked, its thick rusting bolts and chains issued enough of a message. But curiosity had become her; she'd taken to sitting by the door, ear pressed firmly on the wood listening intently. From the depths she thought she could make out heavy breathing and writhing limbs, an unknown living specimen chained below. Her fear was blinkered by a mounting desire to know what was beyond the door; she would find out, there would be no more secrets.

Having been a permanent fixture at Dekmantel festival for several years, in 2019 Dutch DJ and producer Identified Patient made something of a long-awaited debut on the festival's UFO label offshoot. Expanding on his signature style - a murky cocktail of industrial, electro, synth-rock and minimal wave - he now makes his return to the imprint with Nerve Deposit aided by his new toy, a GRP A4 synthesiser, which helps coerce the five tracks into new realms. Irregular dubstep rhythms sit alongside frenetic breakbeat and throbbing hardcore, signalling a new direction for the Pinkman regular, yet tonally he continues to linger in the shadows.
