The full moon lit up the road, casting a brighter glow than the dim street lamps that bordered each side. It was her nightly ritual, watching the comings and goings from her window, hoping to catch wind of a neighbourhood drama or some strange activity only carried out during the nocturnal hours. But nothing stirred, not even the rumble of a car ignition or a stray cat sniffing out its next meal. Everything was quiet, peaceful. Too peaceful... 

Next up on Massimiliano Pagliara's Funnovojere Records, lovingly named after a small beach in southern Puglia, is an instalment from London-based producer Harsh Puri under his Reformed Society alias. Joining the likes of Rotciv, Armonics and James Booth on the label, Reformed Society brings a collection of raw, harmonic synth cuts that blur the boundaries between techno and house. With the first drafts getting the seal of approval from the Guv'nor himself, the late Andrew Weatherall, you can be assured Cosmic Perspective's celestial synth melodies will have you beguiled from lift off to touch down.

PREMIERE : Meetsysteem (ft. Melatonin Man) - Ons Lied Voor De Alien

A draught swept through the church, up their trouser legs and under their skin, forcing a shiver as though someone had walked over their grave. Thus far the rehearsal had gone to plan: nobody had been late, everybody remembered their lines, they all knew their places. But she could't help worrying that this was the time to get the mistakes out of the way — tomorrow had to be perfect.

Providing a sonic escape from the restraints and confinement of Covid lockdown, London-based duo In Fields return to Swedish mainstay Höga Nord, this time for their first solo effort. Like their first label outing alongside regulars Golden Bug last year, this LP brings dynamic electronics but turns its focus to more atmospheric, ambient tones. A rapidly evolving and surprising release, the 8 tracks juxtapose contrasting tones and sounds, matching airy synths with dark, deep tones.

How does it sound
if a piano is romping 
and a rhythm is stomping, 
stumbling over glowing voices along the way?

We didn’t know either. 

But when Paul and the Hungry Wolf were jamming in the studio around the final days of 2018, one particular outcome of those sessions could be described just as that.

By then, the Munich Duo had already established themselves as residents in several of the city’s most beloved electronic spots hosting international club nights for years. Their newest adventure around that time was ‘Galactico’, a monthly party series with regular guests like Skatebård, Young Marco or Massimiliano Pagliara. Until early 2020, those ‘dance classes for the intergalactic community’ gorgeously prospered into Paul and Daniel’s version of a perfect party, combining niche dance music with other arts and being an open and happy space for everyone.

But back to the hard-to-describe tune from the beginning… The immediate working title became ‘Mister Wonky’, thanks to its unusual rhythmical nature. Given the track’s rather chilled vibe, the two friends were surprised and excited that it constantly created such positive dance floor vibes, every time they tested it out in their DJ sets. When they asked one of their favourite producers, Philipp Lauer aka the disco phenomenon from Frankfurt, if he could imagine a remix for Galactico’s label start, he choose ‘Mister Wonky’. The resulting ‘Lauer Remix’ is an enchanting demonstration of his undeniable melodic qualities combined with a dreamy, abstract and partly rougher attitude that could easily make Lauer’s version that kind of growing, blissful festival weapon, we’re so dearly hoping to experience together again soon.

Paul and the Hungry Wolf - Mister Wonky

It was a race to catch the last of the sun; darkness was beginning to edge into their periphery and bright orange hues laced the clouds overhead. The roads were empty — so were the skies, not a bird or plane in sight, just silence. Seizing the opportunity with no sign of life around, she pushed her foot down hard on the accelerator and hurtled forwards. Her mission was to make it to the sun before night fell.

Following the release of their 'III' EP in September of last year, psych-rock band Japanese Television hand over the reigns to several producers to put their own twist on the originals. Set for release on Tip Top Recordings in March, the remix EP enlists the talents of UNKLE AKA James Lavelle, Phantasy Sound affiliate James Welsh, KMAH residents Space Age Freak Out, Desolate Spools alumni International Teachers of Pop and Factory Floor's Gabe Gurnsey, who turns the otherworldly psych of the original into a reverb-drenched groove adding signature hard-hitting drums and minimal synths.
