03 Rigopolar - Surrended

One gun hung behind the bar, never had it been used before but there was an ever growing sense of tension amidst the gathering drunks. In the corner of the room a glass fell and smashed to pieces, this was met by a roar of laughter from the gang of youths to the left. The barman shifted nervously on his feet and glanced around the room. He dreaded the moment in which he might have to take action, make a move and use that gun, that lonely gun, that solo gun. 

Disco Halal are set to release a mini LP from Autarkic. Listen to track two from the record titled 'Solo Gun' .

The blood pumped rapidly around his aching body. He had never expected to come under attack on the battlefield in such a way, so fierce, so heavy, so caustic. His cardiogram read a series of information which he did not understand or follow. Why would he have ever expected to be the one to end up in a hospital bed? He was the hottest in the ring, the champion of the desert and a perilous fighter. Except, now he felt small, weak and insignificant. What would the others say?

It's A Fine Line is the duo made up of Ivan Smagghe and Tim Paris. Last year they released their album on Kill The DJ, now they are remixed by a series of associated producers on a new EP. "cardiogram" is the track in question and it has been re-imagined by the likes of Dollkraut and Factory Floor.

Black Magic sets an optimistic tone for what is to come from this new label.  Intoxicatingly hypnotic and full of warmth, this track reminds us that it is always summer somewhere.
If Black Magic is essential in warming a party up, God Bless Atheism is the perfect way to bring us softly down on the other side.  A modern balearic anthem in the waiting, this is best enjoyed looking out to new horizons.  

B1 Street Sunbath sees Ponty exploring more-techy territory whilst still retaining the hopeful feeling that forms the backbone of this EP.  

Hidden Object has a strong tribal feel which hooks the listener.  Using vocal chanting samples and simple repetitive melody lines, this is a perfect example of how less is often more in connecting with the dancefloor.

Following the critically acclaimed release of Golden Bug’s V.I.C.T.O.R. album last year, La Belle Records tap into some of their favourite contemporary artists and ask them for remixes. Il Est Vilaine, Red Axes, Destino, Thomass Jackson, Danny Daze, Strapontin and more all serve up sizzling results in return. The original album was a vital and broad affair which touched on everything from adult disco to psyche-funk, abstract atmospheres to slow-fi techno. It was another highlight in the Paris man’s esteemed discography.
Kill the DJ & Lumière Noire label associates Il Est Vilaine go first here and brilliantly flip ‘Taste Of Love’ into eight slow and seductive minutes of freaky macho disco with psyched out chords. Glasgow producer and Optimo trax artist MR TC, who also runs the Night of the Jaguar parties and has released on this label before, then gets spooky and unsettling on his dark and broody re-rub of ‘Un Paradis Artificiel’ feat. Julienne Dessagne.

Destino is a new project from a French producer Yuksek, who here shows a love of deep and off-kilter grooves sprinkled with melodies and tin pot percussive sounds on his ‘Accroché à Moi’ remix, while the super hot Israeli duo and Life And Death artists Red Axes go for a flabby dub take on ‘Room 666’ that is laced up with their big trademark guitar licks.
Slow motion dub and oodles of reverb also characterise Barcelona live act STA’s remix of ‘Danse Macabre’ and the ever unpredictable Omnidisc label head Danny Daze goes for an in-your-face and unresolved take on ‘Progress’ that has dark bass and punk spirit in the hits. Disco Halal Records main man Moscoman offers a slippery and snaking side to his sound and layers in fat bass strums and shimmering vocal sounds on his freaky ‘Amazonia’ remix, 2CV’s vision for ‘Black Soul’ is about heavy kicks and gnarly synth lines and Strapontin will trip you out with his circling synths, lazy kicks and gothic vocals.
Finally, Gomma Records and Correspondant’s Thomass Jackson layers up metallic hits and gurgling synths into a trance inducing and woozy remix of ‘El Dorado’ whilst the Get A Room remix of ‘Krokodil’ is a flailing stop-start number with blistering bass, guitars and percussive flurries that makes you jerk your body.
This is a nice package that marries together electronic music, dub, freaky synth work and post punk guitars into eleven menacing and meaningful tracks.

Blindetonation hits double figures with a suitably notable new EP from Aurum Miles. Pardon Moi, Il Est Vilaine and Thomass Jackson all serve up sizzling remixes to complete this interesting package. 

Miles hails from Lithuania and has grown up around shoegaze, rock and British indie, and was later touched by electronic sounds. A keys, drums and guitar player who mixes up all these influences with narcotic weirdness, he has released on this label before and always impresses. 

The excellently elastic ‘Few Feets’ is a sleazy, low slung machine made disco jam with skewed synths, punk hits and dirty bass. Exotic vocals and dark spoken words flesh out the wonky groove and the whole thing is hugely intoxicating. ‘Easy Come Easy Go’ is a menacing number with more filthy bass guitar riffs that snake along an urban sounding landscape. More dehumanised vocals bring an edgy feel and cosmic synths serve to trip you out. Last original ‘Mojo’ completes this brilliant disco freak show with off kilter synths and guttural guitar riffs that add up to dark cosmic excellence. 

First to remix is Berlin Based New Wave Duo Pardon Moi aka James Brook and Thomas Freudenthal. They flip ‘Few Feets’ into a surging track with shooting synths that reach to the skies. It’s a spine tingling cut with plenty of intergalactic energy.  Then come the duo of Il Est Vilaine, who make twisted electronic music and get their machines dancing on labels like Dialect. Their take on ‘Easy Come Easy Go’ is libidinous and dripping with a moody tension. Propped up by rugged bass and coloured with naughty chords, it’s a psyched-out and vital version.  Lastly, label regular and esteemed modern disco man Thomass Jackson works ‘Mojo’ in to a characterfully chugging, flipped out number with scale-riding melodies and percolating bass that takes you on a real trip. 

This is an inventive package of perfectly macho dark disco.
