Beyond the fabled chill-out room and into the field we go...

Joe Muggs has lived and breathed 'electronic music culture' for many, many years... like a lot of us probably for more than he'd care to imagine.  From journalist and observer to active participant and curator, beyond his celebrated writing career spanning publications like The Wire, FACT, The Guardian, and his co-authorship of  Bass, Mids, Tops: An Oral History of Soundsystem Culture. Muggs has built many bridges across the worlds of the electronic and handily, for us, ambient.

Experimental, ambient, and leftfield sounds to the fore, get horizontal. Something's feeling quite full circle here.

So it is with some excitement that Joe agreed to don his ambient trousers again and step up for part 4 of the Seeds mix. "Music to Smell the Jasmine Whilst Watching for Bats in the Twilight" encapsulates what is often a poetic approach to ambient curation - clearly less about the dancefloor and more about creating an experience that enhances the environment around you.

The Scandinavian climate was brisk and fierce. In the northern parts of Sweden there was little sound to be heard as they stared up towards the mountainside. A tiny hut could be seen in the distance, a light flickering from a small fire ablaze outside. This was to be the place, the only musical landmark amidst the outback of the north. Acid would play, acid nord. 

Here is the latest release in celebration of five years of Power Plant Records. The release sees the likes of La Fleur and Acid Mondays contribute but it is the Knutsson/Berg track which we have chosen to feature.

The crew had gathered amidst the sprawling estate. The smoke flourished high up above as it escaped from the heat of the grill. The smell of meat lingered in the air as the warm rays shone down upon them. Many beers would be drank this day, many memories shared. Music blasted from the boombox sat upon the grass. A barbeque skit played loud. 
Here is the latest EP to emerge from the Tartelet Records camp. It sees Kickflip Mike and Julius Conrad deliver a four track EP built for the summer.

The secrets of the crypt would stand the test of time. The sirens called from the cliffy peaks up above as the waves crashed against the rock face. Boats would pass upon the murky waters but none would manage to charter the stormy seas. They would not get near, not now, not ever. Nobody would find the sirens crypt. Nobody. 
Released on Emerald & Doreen, Freudenthal unveils 'Sirens Crypt' featuring Kike and a Damon Jee remix. It is the Damon Jee remix which we are elighted to be able to share.

He lay awake, tossing, turning. His mind was a chaotic blur of wonder and imagination. Never in his wild wild dreams had he experienced such obsessive fascination and experimentation. His mind was no longer his own and he was caught somewhere between sleep and death. The world which he wandered through was exciting and new, bizarre and full of enchanting creativity. Endless possibility and opportunity existed all around this strange landscape. Nothing was the same. 
It is exciting to be able to reveal the Adesse Versions remix of Dj Duke's Pleasure Dome project. He steps up to deliver a fast paced cut with lush padded stabs.

The clouds parted and the sun shone through from the skies above. He looked to the heavens up above and waved his hands in joy, somewhere, way out there, he had been granted by salvation by the powers which lay beyond our wildest dreams. He would have to count his lucky stars and pray for forgiveness. He was blessed, and he would walk the earth again once more. Salvation had come. 

Here is the latest release from The Body Language camp which comes from the land on the other side. The Australian based label offers up a two track EP from Leo James.

The mysterious woods came to life in the middle of the night. Fires blazed between the trees and crowds flocked to and fro celebrating the party which was. The music of the free world was playing under the canopy of green as the moonlight cast its buoyant beam over the majestic land. This was the place, it had to be. 

Kolomensky is the artist and producer behind the new ИДА record label. The latest release sees him feature alongside several artists on a split EP but it is his track which caught our attention.
