Works As a look back, back to 2014 when Dominik aka Kletis moved to the new city at the top northern borders of Czech Sudeten land. City where is always raining. And where melancholic mood spreads through the city from the nearby forests with the morning fog. Back to 2014 when kletis music production was highly influenced by UKs original sound of dubstep. Those sub-level harmonic beats and gun fingers in the sky. Those memories of a Sunday hangover, when you stay in bed all day and your only duty is to change vinyl once you listened both sides.  This ep is Kletis's reflection of his relationship with the city he's been living since 2014. Both Happy and Sad times, Pure Ecstasy and Sadness, Broken Hearth and Feeling Loved. That's the Midnight Nectar.

Midnight Nectar

PREMIERE: Kletis - Midnight Nectar  [Diffuse Reality]

The sun gradually dawns on a vast metropolis, and within minutes the city comes alive. The bustling sound of traffic floods the streets, vendors on market stalls begin to sell and barter — some are pushier than others. In the ocean of people going about their morning, on one of the mains strips, a yellow rickshaw appears, driving against the flow of the crowd. In the back is a teenage boy, wide eyed, caught up in the wonder of the beautiful chaos. He looks down at his grubby palm and starts counting coins. When he finishes, he cracks a smile and puts them back in his pocket.

As the rickshaw pulls up outside a closed down restaurant, the boy shouts ‘thanks!’, runs off without paying, and slips into a derelict side street. He peers around the corner to check on the driver… he’s not chasing him, instead the driver looks hopeless and frustrated, before admitting defeat and driving off. The boy bursts into laughter and continues to walk down the side street and into the main market, he is spoilt for choice on what to spend his newly ‘earnt’ money on.

Brixton’s Dream Diary label continue their new Singles Club series with an instalment from World Unknown and No Speakers alumni Peter Rocket; "a bubbling force of nature who has an imagination that travels at escape velocity from the rigid confines of modern electronic music". 'Chuffed' immediately takes on a life of its own, led by the commanding yet joyous horns, and clever percussive breakdowns that defy convention and time signature. The layers as a whole culminate into pure energy and buzz - sound bites breath disruption and chaos into the track, whilst the horns and driving bass provide the stability to counteract it. The result is a thoroughly enjoyable tightrope walk that sets you free whilst keeping you on your toes.

"Reconstruir das Ruínas (rebuild from the ruins) is a compilation created by 25 musicians from the Lisbon underground electronic scene, including Xinobi, Vil, Dan Ghenacia, Kaspar, and many more. They are kindly donating their tracks with all proceeds being donated to União Audiovisual (uniaoaudiovisual.pt) - an association working on providing support and essential goods to artists and audiovisual professionals affected by the pandemic.

Music has the power of bringing people together and here, it plays a major role in rebuilding our future from the rubble left behind by this pandemic. We were blessed to be free to party before and we shouldn’t let the sense of nostalgia translate into despair; we should use it as a positive driving force pushing us to look forward: nothing will be the same but, if we work together, it can only get better.

Ahead of his second LP, ‘The Invitations Are Real, The Party Is Not’ on his WIDE Recordings imprint, Haywire affiliate Debasser announces his second single, ‘Bad Behaviour’, following the first single ‘Separation Anxiety’.

Drawing inspiration from a golden era of UK music, Debasser’s ‘Bad Behaviour’ harks back to the fertile ground of early Jungle & Drum & Bass. Reaching for bombastic breaks, speaker rattling low-end, gorgeous synths and stretched vocals, Debasser provides an undeniably hard-hitting homage.

The mysterious Naughty Step steps up for remix duties, pushing the basslines to breaking point and deconstructing the breakbeats, bringing the tempo down but maintaining the energy levels with pattering percussion and fresh vocal chops.

Active throughout the early 000’s on labels such as NovaMute, Input Output, and Seed, as well as playing at Andrew Weatherall’s Haywire parties, Debasser has been pushing machine-funk and bass focussed UK music for close to two decades. "Out with the old and in with the new" - that's what they always say. But it's never that easy in practice. The transition is always strange: it's a period of change, sometimes of destruction, definitely of adjustment. Morphing from one form slowly into the next, prompted by actions of your own doing, or someone elses. Things are going to be different and, unwilling or willing, you have to deal with it.

Having been immersed in music culture from a young age, becoming hooked on collecting records as well as training as a sound engineer, Italian DJ and producer David Agrella is now taking things up a notch with the launch of his new label, Agrellomatica Records. Named after his monthly radio show on Bloop, the imprint will be a space for his musical inspirations which bridge many different strains of electronic music. For his first outing he offers up a four tracker, 'Transition', which melds together fluid drum patterns, rubbery synth lines, soaring pads and dreamy electro grooves.

It pays to be vulnerable, they say it all the time. They say it enough to be true. Nonetheless, the old world remains, and one should pick their moments. Vulnerability is a two-way street, and there are often roadworks, the smell of tar and the ear-splitting assault of drills, sensory tedium outside the dry cleaners, opposite the school and adjacent to the train station. They say there’s ample free parking, but when you get there, there’s only so much space to take.

Berlin-based label Hot Concept continues an unpredictable journey with a new artist introducing themselves to the roster, loket. First emerging via their own cult mix for the Deep Mind Music series, their debut full release, out digitally now and on limited-edition tape soon, taps three original productions that blend live saxophone modulation with influences within the ambient, trance and hardcore continuum.

Accompanying this hugely original trio are two remixes from London’s Jay Duncan, each taking on a radically different tempo. While the ‘Spirit of Sabre’ version zones in on psychedelic chug, the ‘Infinity Mix’ premiering here today ramps up the energy but loses none of the detail.

Bristol-based sound artist and producer Delay Grounds is "compelled to work with abstraction", an approach he channels wholeheartedly on his newest release 'Upcycling'. Working alongside artist Liz Naden, the pair have created an audio-visual concept using rubbish found in skips; Delay Ground producing organic electronic sounds, while Naden crafted unique sculptures. A forward-thinking project that 'upcycles' the regular artistic mediums, encouraging a narrative and an understanding between the pair, in Delay Grounds words it "enabled us both to explore our own creative potential and create a work with layers of depth which we were not initially aware of before.”
