The machine sprung to life with a great electric roar, inside it buzzed and hummed sending out an enthusiastic noise which echoed with a precise tone and texture. This was the flange factory, where dreams were made and the noises of nightmares echoed between empty walls as dancers moved back and forth. The lights began to flicker and flash as the electrical currents pulsed and vibrated with a scattergun sense of purpose. Soon they would be lost beneath the fog and the sounds of a world beyond... 

Lucas Croon is a producer on who it is wise to keep close tabs, he has released music previously on Themes For Great Cities and Aiwo. Time was no longer on his side; the realisation had firmly hit home. Things that he'd once done with ease now felt like an effort, days that had seemed endless now passed by in the blink of an eye. While for some this may have caused anxiety and despair, he didn't mind all that much. It gave him a strange sense of satisfaction; it was time to slow down and change the pace. 

Next up in Lyon-based imprint Hard Fist's busy schedule is a collaborative EP from two key figures in Mexico's underground electronic scene: Thomass Jackson and Theus Mago. Separately the pair, who run Calypso Records and Duro respectively, have made a global impact with releases for the likes of Correspondant, Futureboogie, Multi Culti and many more. Recorded both together and remotely, due to the pandemic, and fuelled by intense FIFA sessions, the four tracks on El Venao capture their signature flare for tripped-out ritualistic club sounds, and come complete with a rerub from Ana Helder.

Another ground-breaking collaboration between the pair which again features Mammarella’s signature arcane arps and the sweeping, glassy harmonies of Rodion. The light surging from the street lamps had slowly began to dwindle day by day, until it fizzed out completely leaving the village in total darkness. This presented an opportunity for chaos and calamity, for people to get away with mischief under the veil of the night sky; an opportunity they'd grab with two hands.

Jonny Rock returns will instalment six of his Disco Hamam VAs, flipping Middle-Eastern and Turkish gems into dance floor cuts. This time he calls on the talents of Japanese producer Hotaru, Radio Campus Besançon resident Red Lebanese and our friends over at Lyon's Hard Fist Records, Cornelius Doctor and Tushen Raï. While Hotaru and Red Lebanese take care of the A-side, the Hard Fist bosses take charge of the flip, twisting an 80s synth-pop jam into a psychedelic disco groover and giving a kitsch Hungarian electro hip-hop cut an acid house touch.
