"Super Flu - Volkwein (Kollektiv Turmstrasse Remix)" - out today on Monaberry!!

After the unbridled success that was "Volkwein", Super Flu's collaboration with The Dortmund Philharmonic, the always on point Monberry label now revisits the package with the help of some fine contemporary remixers, namely Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Monkey Safari and Bebetta.

Super Flu, aka Herzblut Recordings regulars and German pair Felix Thielemann & Mathias Schwarz, really conjured up some magic with the original so these remixes, which reinterpret in fine style, are more than welcome.

First up are Kollektiv Turmstrasse, a rare act that infuse their sound with something more - extra soul, depth and meaning. On their remix of the title track, they go for a trademark deep, brooding and slowly unfolding vibe with subtle synth modulations, buried drums and a rising sense of tension.

The curious and off kilter German duo Monkey Safari are up next. First they rework 'Bratzke' with a sensitive sense of touch. Underlapping, rubbery drums roll below churchy and hymnal chords. Softly spoken vocals add intimacy and you can see this one really making for quite a moment on the right dance floor. Secondly, they serve up a digital bonus remix of the same track that makes less use of the vocal and places plenty of emphasis on their lush arrangement and true sense of musicality.

Lastly we have Bebetta, a playful producer who infuses her music with charming melody and a real sense of personality. She has also recently won the Tresor Newcomer Award for her impressive DJ sets around Berlin. Her version of 'Volkwein' is patient and spacious. Glowing harmonically it soothes mind body and soul with playful patterns and clever use of filters.

This EP is an elegant and magical release that proves house music can be so much more than a physical and functional thing, and can instead stir real emotion when in the right hands.

As the visual artist for the label, musician, and founding member of Desert Hearts, Marbs embodies the beautifully multi-faceted culture that this community has come to represent. 

Tusks & Tales is a journey through the intricately introverted mind of Marbs, a delicate and sonically melding exposé of the highs and lows fans have experienced in his performances for years. From the uplifting lead and spaced out chords of ‘Tusks & Tales’, to ‘Loveish’s emotive strings and intention setting Ray Charles sample, to the ethereal warmth of ‘Pink Skies’ created with atmospheric pulls from Dark Side of The Moon, Marbs turns from light to dark as seamlessly as the desert day turns to night. 

The EP also helps welcome Barcelona native T CHES to the Desert Hearts Family with his late  night rendition of the title track - a head down, hands in the air remix of the inspiring original.

It can be difficult to mend a broken soul. It can be a struggle to forget. The memories of winter days past still glimmered faintly in his mind, a flickering dream which he struggled to recall in perfect clarity. He longed to be able to remember her face as she stared back from the path up ahead. He remembered the beautiful glow in a smile, in a wink, in a kiss. Most of all he did not want to forget the time in which they spent. He did not want to forget about her, he did not want to forget about you.

Based amidst the sprawl of East London you might upon an evening stumble into a party run by Let's Go Swimming. In recent months they have hosted the likes of Sotofett, Big Miz, Bell Towers and more. However, the formation of their own record label has since seen their relevancy increase dramatically. Doppelate is the latest artist to release on the label and he brings with him an expertly crafted blend of padded house, dreamy percussion and playful melody.

The blackness melted into nothing but a pale grey as a pink light echoed peacefully across the forefront of the lagoon. His brain was finally becoming warm and quiet. His mind was still, no longer pensive and full of sadness. The outlook from the boat was far brighter as they moved above the gentle rolling waves. He looked forward, no longer back, the past was but a blur which lay somewhere beneath the depths of the murky blue lagoon. This was living. 

IXVLF returns with rough and ready tendencies as he delivers a five track ep of wobbling synths and a distorted aesthetic.

He woke from his slumber and this was all that was left, a fitting flash amidst the depths of sleep in which a perfect life was there. 

Carreno Is LB takes an atmospheric approach on his new release for hafendisko, a new sub label of the better known hfn. Based in the Canary Islands he encaptures a melodic energy commonly associated with the heat and warmth of summer.

All we knew about him was that he was a living legend, and by damn there wasn't many of those left to walk this town no more. He had become our idol old Mr. MM, whoever he was, wherever he was, we loved him. 

Dimitri Veimar is taking step by step to notoriety with a recent string of interesting releases. His latest output appears on Renate Schallplaten, the record label run by the infamous Berlin nightlife hostpot known for debauchery and intrigue. 'Lazy Trance' offers a spectacular soundtrack to such antics.

The mysterious villain had been terrorising the town for decades. Al Shark was his name, and he was a bad ass bandit with a temper like a rocket ship. His crimes we perilous and terrible, his heart cold and hard as stone. However, this time he had gone too far, it was time for the town to fight back against his vile presence. Within the saloon they gathered, ready to drive him out of town. In the distance a hawk could be heard crying, it was time to run the road. The sands roared wild. 

Kalbata is the co founder behind Fortuna Records. He delivers a middle eastern inspired techno collage with mythical properties. Experimental music for body and soul.

The tribe moved through the undergrowth with gracious ease. For years they had lived deep within the jungle, it had served them well but now it was under threat from new civilisation. The manticore had hoped never to have to move with the times, they had their ways, the rest of the world had another rule book. Now, on the ground, they had to dig deep, keep moving and join as one with the leaves and trees that surrounded them. They would escape from this mess, it would simply take time. 

Machete Savane releases on Not An Animal making up the labels fourth release. He is remixed by the talent that is Jonny Nash who is previously known for his music on Melody As Truth and the Japanese label Snaker.

Not An Animal keeps up the pace and pressure with yet another high quality distinctive release, further cementing the labels specific sound and revealing more of the scope of its musical mission. Machete Savane are comprised of label co-owner Andy Bainbridge and producer/composer Saul Richards. Manticore continues with their instantly recognisable hi octane yet organic discofied sound, as previously displayed via their releases on Cynic and Redux. Remix wise, there's a very much 'night and day' choice to be had here, with Johnny Nash (Land Of Light) providing his trademark blissed-out ambience to a beatless rendition and Ian Blevins taking the original even further into dancefloor territory, upping the tempos and evoking the drive of Paperclip People.
