After “Orpheus” dropped last April with support by chief musical dispensers like Ben Sims, Call Super, Loraine James, Carista, Ben UFO, Danielle, Optimo’s JD Twitch, Nazira, Erol Alkan and more, the second outing of this new, revitalised One Eyed Jacks is yet another Photonz single leading up to the release of his forthcoming album “Communal Sweat” dropping later this year also on the label. On “The Sun And The Moon”, OEJ label-head Photonz shows his lighter side, with sun-tinged piano hooks alternating nocturnal sentimentality, pointillist bleeps and a stripped-back snappy house beat with no extra adorn or distractions. On “White Pelican”, the second original on this single, things get a bit more abstract and intricate with angular and dialoguing grooves and sounds, laid out and organised in a live arrangement and cooked up for late sets and trippier electro-techno fantasies.

On remix services we’ve got two up-and-coming greats from Portugal and France: Lisbon-based Brazilian dj, producer and activist Cigarra steps in to transform the title-track into a fast-paced, footwork-modelled bass attack while retaining the original’s summery appeal; Parisian well-kept secret and Photonz occasional collaborator Keumel instead turns “The Sun And The Moon” into an elegant, patiently-passed acid/deep house hybrid, focusing more on its melancholy and emotive flair, and bringing it home with a dub-techno sensibility on the FX. Artwork is once again by Príncipe-affiliated and FLUR Records record pusher Márcio Matos, responsible for the visual identity of the label since day one. Mastering by Justin Drake of Peace Division.

Q1E2 Recordings present the 2nd single taken from Dr.Sud's forthcoming EP 'Heading South'.

He’s a Rome-born, Berlin-raised producer whose music is a fusion of percussion-centric soundscapes and integrated jazz-leaning harmonies, drawing inspiration from diverse genres like electronica, funk, and house.

‘Brina’, a word which in Italian refers to morning dew – perhaps found on a tent on the morning of a festival – represents the breaking of dawn with broken beats. The track breaks and squints into the start of the day with spacious kick drums leaving room for warm, almost familiar pads and keys.

Bangkok-based artist @musicvell releases debut EP “Floating Mists, Warm Vistas,” on the @boiledwonderlandrecords banner.

In a vell of floating mists so fine, Warm vistas danced in a twisty line. Boiled Wonderland records played a tune, Singing a song to the glowing moon.

Mists giggled and twirled with glee, Vistas whispered secrets to the sea. Boiled Wonderland laughed along, Records skipped, oh what a song!

Through the vell, a whimsical flight, Floating dreams took their height. Warm vistas hugged the sky so tight, Boiled Wonderland spun day to night.

‘Orange Slices’ coming from Everett marks the northern artist’s first-ever solo release linking up with Manchester-based label and party series Left, Right & Centre for the second time.

The five-track presentation of sound sees four original cuts sit aside a heavyweight remix from Bristol’s Bruce, for a late summer/early autumn smash hit release, leaning towards a wonky techno sound, purpose-built for peak time club night ferocity.

Everett has made his name slowly but surely as a cornerstone for quality in Manchester’s electronic underbelly, whether that be through his meticulous DJ sets, his radio presence throughout the years or his association with the inimitable The White Hotel.

Now permitted to spread his wings across the five-tracker, Everett’s time spent between the quiet recesses of Mancunian dances and honing his sound with deadly precision pays dividends. His attention to detail and ear for quality shines through on ‘Orange Slices’. Touching across the producer’s broad and deft tastes, the productions are a celebration of Everett’s infatuation with half-time DnB, slow-burning Techno and the newfangled styles of Ploy et al.
