'Kyiv Summer Tracks (2014​-​2021)' is the long-awaited debut album by @konakov1992. Nostalgia about rave and the dancefloor. A cheerful collection of synth house, melodic Detroit techno, and light electro, reminders of happy summer parties.

Bodya Konakov is well-known for his expansive music style and his love to experiment with sound. This time, he wanted to keep music as simple as it is – loud drum-machines, lucid synths, and joyful summer vibe.

Most tracks were written especially for live shows on well-known Ukrainian rave – Схема, on which Konakov was a frequent guest.

This track was recorded during and after on a recent trip i took to Palestine to volunteer with the charity SkatePal, who's work supports young people in Palestine through skateboarding.

There is no P sound in the Arabic language and so this morphs into an F when locals talk with pride about their home, Falastine.

Falasteen dream is a soundscape of the imaginary and real Falestine that I experienced there.

Built on the nostalgic love story of a Falastine teen, and mixed in with sound recordings taken in Ramallah's markets, streets and alleyways. The song captures the trip and the place, its vibrant sounds and atmosphere, and takes you on a journey through Falestine.

Icelandic producer @jonbjorn returns to his Lagaffe Tales imprint to deliver four vibrant cuts on the ‘BROT’ catalogue.

In a small valley between two mountains in the Icelandic Westfjords, you can find the source of creativity for the Reykjavík based Icelandic DJ and producer, Jónbjörn. As well as being an accomplished DJ, performing in Berlin, Vienna, Helsinki, Tbilisi and festivals such as Sonar Reykjavik and Secret Solstice, the last three years has seen Jónbjörn carving out a solo career both as a graphic designer, and music producer developing a sound of his own working with labels such as Neo Violence, FALK Records, D.KO Records and remixes on his Lagaffe Tales imprint – the label he’s been running for the past seven year runs with his friend Viktor Birgiss. In 2020 Lagaffe Tales will introduce more artists on the BROT series which @felixleifur started ever so memorably with a headturning trilogy in 2019.

The opener entitled ‘Shamisen’ kicks off the EP with stabbing electro drums, fluttering synth work harmonising with the gentle melodies throughout while ‘Anthophila Anna’ provides a more technofocused feel with raw modulations, acid-fuelled tones and surging, lo-fi rhythms.

On the filp, ‘Tinni’ deploys a menacing synth line, growing oscillations floating with the weight-driven kicks and snares offering up a peak-time dancefloor focused cut before ‘Sakuragawa’ rounds off proceedings with shimmering grooves harmonising with the aquatic tones and effervescent elements that pulsate until the end.

His mind was elsewhere, in a place where none of this mattered and smiling happy grins were all that could be seen. He danced a little, a spring in his step as he wandered in between crowds of people and their reckless ways. He was buggin' out in the most profound of senses - this was to be the best day of his life...

moon is set to release an EP on One Glove, the first outing on the newly launched record label. This is a groove based 2 steppin' shuffley affair. Perfect for those head down city commutes and the occasional jig.

Continuing to push his sound into new realms through experimentation with different influences, Joaquin Cornejo returns to Earthly Measures with his first vinyl release. The ‘Las Frutas’ EP contains 6 genre-bending, tempo-shifting tracks that form to create a mesmerising blend of footwork, dub, Latin & African percussion.

‘Las Frutas’ explores a collaboration with both the Spanish singer Alex Serra and British DJ and trumpet player DJ Swordfish. It’s constructed by a warped and pitched down drum break that has been slowly surrounded by subby kicks, toms and dub chords that echo through tape delays, giving it a wonderfully spaced out atmosphere that provides the perfect backdrop for the soothing vocals and brass instruments.

‘Spatial Request’ sees a shift in tempo as Joaquin once again blends elements of Dub but this time with the driving Dominican rhythm Merengue. The result is a track that is very much fuel for the mind and body as the vibey atmosphere and percussive focus helps to keep the track moving with bouncy momentum.

Effortlessly combining music from his home country with the Dub theme that has been apparent throughout, ‘Dub en 3’ is a percussion jam from Ecuadorian percussion duo Consulado del Ritmo, where African triplet rhythms crossover with strong dub techno stabs and a Dub MC sample echoes in and out creating a effective blend of tribal and dubby elements.

‘Eso’ sees the return of the percussive wizardry of Consulado del Ritmo but this time in collaboration with the Venezuelan singer Gotopo. A relentless amalgamation of 160bpm djembe grooves, solid 808 kick drums, deep and sultry vocals and synth stabs feed-backing on tape create a driving blend of African percussion and footwork with a subtle touch of dub techno.

Perhaps the darkest track on the record, ‘Shadow’ is a collaboration with the English singer-songwriter Wabi Sabi aka Anna Bailey. Exploring a deep fusion of footwork, dubstep and dub techno alongside strong tape delay and Wabi Sabi’s hauntingly beautiful vocals, it glides experimentally through the shadows of the previous track.

‘Las Frutas’ Vapor Mix’ is a distant dreamy take on the original where the vocals ebb and flow throughout creating an otherworldly ambience. This piece is made up of elements from the other tracks, pitched down or up on tape and layered in a tempo-independent way, producing the perfect ambient ending to the journey.
