US artist Danny Daze, out of Miami, has long been affiliated with the more electronic side of dance music. From the early days in the electro scene and more abstract forms of techno, the Omnidisc boss has covered a lot of musical ground since then. Helping to reimagine the underground landscape, Danny was pivotal in the early 2010s club sound with releases on Hot Creations, Ellum Audio, and Kompakt. He soon turned his attention back to the obscure side of the dancefloor and IDM. As much a music lover and dancer as he is an artist, he knows exactly what works on the dancefloor and his recent album “::BLUE::” on his own Omnidisc imprint exemplifies this ethos. Under a former alias, The Liquid Dude has long been a fixture in the electronic scene, collaborating with artists such as Emanuel Satie, Leif, and Lehar, among others. He has played all over the world, including at Detroit's legendary TV Lounge, and also scores for film. His work has won international awards such as Best Film at the 22nd Wildlife Vaasa Film Festival in Finland and Best Documentary at the 5th MADRIFF. He has directed independent films, music videos, commercials, and creative fashion and art photoshoot sessions, and blends visual and musical storytelling with a distinct artistic vision

After a 12-year hiatus from the DJ circuit, he's back with fresh energy and perspective for this new album and an immersive event series, Into the Hole. Early bookings at high-profile venues like Eden in Ibiza have started this new chapter with a bang, and this new album is only set to take him to new levels once more. It arrives on the newly launched Liquid Freaks label, which, since 2023, has been an event series run by a highly experienced group keen to revive the raw spirit of the early warehouse scene.

Says the artist, "What you'll hear isn't nostalgia, it's a disassembled memory rebuilt from frequencies and mild paranoia. It's the echo of someone who once lived inside the scene, then slipped out quietly when it stopped making sense. Not a tribute, a confrontation. A cracked mirror held up to a culture that once moved bodies and minds."

Opener 'Skip This' begins with atmospheric synth modulation, textured smears, and curious melodies before 'Nipponacidfunk' delivers a twisted house workout with funky drumming and screwy 303s laced with Japanese spoken words. The singular sounds continue on the pressurised and winky acid madness of 'Shakyshaky', while 'Botox Love' is an oﬀ-grid rhythm with unhinged synths and flaming breakbeats, warped vocals and acid flashes that take you to the heart of a strobe-lit warehouse. 'Freaking Freaks' brings old school piano energy to new school club rhythms and 'Digital Dopamine' is tripped out afterparty electro with aliens controlling the machines. There is a more introverted feel to the plunging bass and melancholic chords of 'Indigestion' before closer 'The Old Days' pairs warm summer synths with spoken word musings and elastic rhythms.

info: Following their successful releases on Chequered Wax, Fresh Take Records and Andras Records, Bristol & Brighton based duo Sonic Juncture, comprised of Josh Twigge-Molecey & George Protheroe, share their latest EP 'Planetary Pursuit' with Westival Records.

Their opening track, 'XDimensional' hits us with an attention-grabbing sub bass that continues throughout, with a variety of synth textures and a running bassline to take the listener on a spook-filled, trancey journey from beginning to end.

The second track on the EP 'Thursday Groove' is driven by a rubbery bassline, jazzy chords, and crisp percussion. The track cruises through rich synth textures and subtle atmospheres, striking a perfect balance between laid-back groove and dancefloor intent.

'Find My Way' teases us with delayed, garage-like vocals and a mixture of energetic percussion combined with an arpeggiated bass, synthy riffs and tambourine sounds for the track's duration.

In true alignment with the EP's title, 'Planetary Pursuit' (Dub Mix) forms a progressive banger starting with saw tooth synth riffs and an 80s style snare, which make way for a groovy bass synth at the drop. The soulful vocals (Vocal Mix), saxophone reverbs and pipe-like synth throughout add further layers of differentiation to a chaotic yet atmospheric floor-stomper.

RNT introduces MOTEL PHANTASMA, a new project from a mysterious production duo with their incendiary Claptrap EP. A tasty double A-side 7”, this pair of tracks establishes the MP sound as both club-tough and musically weighty. 

The title track is a peaktime weapon of epic proportions, oozing slippery electronic percussion, razory synth work, and in-your-face vocal incantations delivered in Portuguese. 

The flip side is a bouncey Afro-boogie number, a bit more organic in approach, and with a relentlessly catchy hook by featured singer Kaleta. With a gorgeous full color jacket to match the music’s punch, this one is an absolute late-summer essential.

Rick Wade is one of Detroit and house music's most consistent performers. He is a master of crafting tools that never miss on the floor but also have the sort of character that means they endure across the ages and remain impervious to passing trends. Art Is The Place has his latest, and it opens with the angelic vocals of 'Level Up' over a whimsical groove, then 'Big Ha Blues' gets more deep and zoned out with pillowy pads and wet claps. 'Intrusive Emotions' has a more grinding low end but stays slow and is softened by jazz keys, then 'Bitter Sweet brings some dust and grit. Another faultless outing from Wade.

After releasing several EP on Accents Records, ARTS, and Diffuse Reality. Pablo Diarra aka Saïph launches his own label Songe Anima records (Sonam rec) with this first release Griffe Sonam EP.

The EP's surprising influences include techno, contemporary trance and ambient, with acoustic recordings drums somewhere between, Afrobeat, jazz and Maracatu, and colder textured pads. This EP feels both grounded and ethereal.

The whole low-end spectrum stares us in a very dub-like direction, the snare, Rim, hats game is as swift as it is aerial, while the electro sound design elements take us, through experimental effect, into a vast, hushed soundscape.

The EP can't be summed up in a single musical style, and explores musical universes we've rarely heard together. The resulting unity is a mature, rhythmically complex sound, an insider's music that's easy to access because it's so danceable.

'After Trane'is an explicit tribute to John Coltrane. Here, the main lead evokes a sound somewhere between trumpet, flute and organ. Its polyrhythmic tangle with a second lead to the 5th can evoke a Balkan fanfare, a Celtic ritornello, West African chants, or even an Oriental dimension; there's something quite universal about this appearance; whose main characteristic is to produce a trance effect. The closing solo may evoke something of Joe Zawinul, and in some aspects takes the allure of a Coltranian pastiche in its articulation. You'll even recognize a brief citation of the Impressions theme, breaking through the mix and setting the track on fire at 5''33.
